Thank you, JJM, for your thorough (it appears) deterrent to burrowing.  The work will have to hold off for next year or later this year as I am having to do much in this aged house this year.

 

And yes, the kits are incredibly appealing.  They look like playful kittens/puppies doing the mock-attacks and body-slams on one another.

Well, when I saw that adult fox a week or so ago, he must have already been inhabiting the space and I did not know it.

 

(No shoes will be left outside -- I'm referencing the post I submitted the other day in which I reported that a neighboring community has had a problem with a fox family stealing shoes left outdoors.)
