MoonDance,
Cute Happy Monday cat. Hope you and all our ladies are doing well today. It was a fabulous 82 in Tennessee today and I sat on the deck tonight for a while, it was marvelous. I had the windows open all day but think now I may have to cut the a/c on before I ignite.
Met my new neighbors tonight and their 4 house dogs, everyone including the dogs seem very nice. It's a young couple, well everybody's young when you get my age.
Just saw a girl on a late night show, a comedian, making rude remarks about people in Tennessee, so tacky, jokes or not! Obviously she's never been here.
Not much going on here, washing, cleaning and running errands and still de-cluttering.
Hope I haven't already mentioned this, mama's gotta brag, but if your familiar with tripadvisor.com my son's bookstore was ranked #2 in places to visit in his town, second only to a US President's home. There are still people that like to browse a bookstore and hold a real book in their hands.
Do any of you have recessed lights in the kitchen? I had them put in when I had the kitchen remodeled in 2009 and the bulbs go out every week, driving me insane. I can change one bulb and that night another one will go out, I change that one and another goes out in two days. Anyone else have to change the bulbs often?
My house is brick but the overhang has siding under it and it's falling down on the south side of the house. I must call someone tomorrow and get them to come out and fix that, it's only 13 years old and in my opinion shouldn't be falling down. I need to have some trees trimmed which isn't going to be cheap, but my mirror reminds me I doubt I'll miss a meal, so I'll not complain. Winter has left me with more outside chores, I need to spend a day picking up limbs in the yard, the storage barn may need some paint this year, it's gray but looks a little faded in places.
I guess I'm the only one left in the county with clothesline poles still up but I like putting hanging baskets on them in the summer. I haven't had the clothes lines up in decades. I suppose I need to have the deck washed and stained again this year too. If the weather stays pretty I'm going to try to get all the windows washed this week, fortunately I have the kind that let down on the inside so I can do it all from inside except the two picture windows.
I no doubt have put you all to sleep by now so I'll hush and fold some clothes, play solitaire a while then hit the hay.
Retired Banker is in Fla. for a much needed getaway, wish I were there too. I hope you all have a lovely week and the sun shines at your house tomorrow.
Take care.

Lakk..
Ohio weather is unpredictable...you know the old saying...if you don't like the weather in Ohio...wait a minute. It was 72 on Tuesday and in the 40's yesterday. Now it's 54 and drizzly rain.
I don't have recessed lights but my hanging light,by my sofa, goes out at least once a month. Then my faux Tiffany lamp is always needing new bulbs.I very rarely use it,for that reason.
Comedians don't try to be funny anymore...just insulting.I love when a comedian can make me laugh, without hurting anyone or using vulgar language.
I'm no prude...I like a good "blue" joke, every now and then...but some are just outright mean & nasty.
I haven't seen clothesline poles since '72,when my ex and I lived on base in Camp Lejune..those were the days.We had them on my grandmas farm,in St.Charles,MO.
That poor woman did laundry with a ringer washer and hung all our clothes out to dry...winter or summer. There were 5 of us kids, plus her and my mom.
My mom worked at a factory during the week,so she stayed in St.Louis, with family and came home on weekends. We had no running water and a potbellied stove in 3 rooms.
Everyone have a wonderful and safe weekend...![]()

Hi Bobbisue...I love your siggy..if you don't mind me asking, who is Buck?
And a tasty Friday treat for all the ladies on here...a gorgeous picture of Clint Walker when he had his tv series "Cheyenne" in the 50's & 60's.

Hi Bobbisue I hope your feeling better.
MoonDance you've had a crush on that man since I first got on these boards 8 yrs. ago. LOL He's not too bad on the eyes, I always liked William Holden, Richard Egan, Clark Gable, Robert Mitchum and Paul Newman the old movies were the best. They could have read the phone book and I would have watched it.
Not much going on here I didn't exactly get up and get at 'em today. I walked from the bedroom into here and with the exception of going to the fridge for a diet coke that's it! Guess I should go out for the mail before dark.
Another son's birthday today (# 4 next to the 'baby') he's 43, he sent me an e-mail today and said it should not be a day to celebrate him but to celebrate mom's because they did all the work! LOL
I need to decide on something for supper and then wait for the UK game to come on. The news is on now and I don't even recognize downtown. I haven't been downtown in probably 25 years, I wouldn't know it, it's grown so much and all the activities that are going on there amaze me. I must go riding through town soon, I'll probably be trying to go up the wrong way on one way streets, it's changed so much.
The man came yesterday to repair the siding on the overhang, he (and I) thought it was going to be a 15 min. job but it's going to require more than he expected so he's coming back Monday. It seems he has to remove it then put it back up, it couldn't just be nailed back up. I'm seeing $$$ signs. Well it has to be done and I've been lucky not to have any major problems here in the last 42 years so I sure can't complain.
I want to change the curtains in a couple of rooms, think I'll get out next week and see if I can find some. Where do you ladies buy curtains? I actually found my bedroom curtains years ago at Lowes of all places. The ones in the computer room came from Penney's probably had them 25 years, they still look like new I'm just sick of them. I need to replace the sheers too. I made all my kitchen curtains until these last ones.
Do any of you remember the foam with the slits in it and you just pushed the material in them and hung them up? I think I saw them first on Christopher Lowell's show on HGTV. I always said I was going to do that but never did.
I need to get some laundry started, I hope you all have a nice weekend.
Take care.

Shosh
Do you play Bingo on games.com...thought I saw you over there the other night. Just wondering if that was you. How have you been doing?
I hope the weather has improved for everyone, it's been lovely here, going to be in the 60's next week but that's o.k. too. My DGS mowed this week and it looks so nice and green. I have some dwarf daylillies coming up, I thought they were gone forever. I can't wait to see what color they are, they didn't do anything last year, or maybe my DGS's helper chopped them down, I'm not sure which happened but they are a welcomed sight.
Not much going on here, I had a doctors appointment this week, my yearly visit. He wasn't real happy with my food choices this past year and the effects on my bod but he'll get over it. He's lost some weight since I last saw him but last year when I went in I didn't reprimand him because he had gained!
I made some country fried steak tonight, cooked some baby carrots and creamed potatoes. I also made a small meatloaf I haven't made in about 2 years. I can switch up and have this until the middle of the week. Ladies have I mentioned Glory brand green beans, oh my goodness. I discovered them recently and can't get enough of them, so good. IMO All this with the mini croissants from QVC, yum yum. I normally just eat chicken but every now and then I have to have some country fried steak and gravy.
I'm listening to some golden oldies on the tv Music Choice channel and "So Fine" by the Fiestas is on, that brings back some 1959 memories. There was a show on a local tv station here just like American Bandstand called The 5 O'clock Hop. My school friend from South Carolina that comes to visit me every year lived about two doors from the tv station and we would go every chance we got if we didn't have a lot of homework. All the guys and girls just met there then paired up. Naturally there was one good looking guy named Wayne (the best dancer too) that everyone wanted to dance with and my friend was the best female dancer there so she lucked out most of the time. She even followed her dancing career for several years after school. Now when she comes to visit we're leading each other around and dreaming about the days are legs actually moved that fast. Those were the days.
It's been a good day, I talked to some of my boys, a friend called tonight and the sun was shining most of the day. Oh me Otis Redding's "Sittin' On The Dock Of The Bay" is on, I may have to go cut a rug on the kitchen floor, better carry my phone in case I end up in ER.
Hope you all have a good day. Take care.

Lakk...I've had a crush on Clint Walker since i was 5...i remember when i first saw him..i told my mom that i was going to marry him when i grew up.She said i couldn't because he was her age.Honey i just cried & cried...my mom was 4 years older than him and she looked so stinking old,to me.
I loved William Holden,Richard Egan,Clark Gable & Robert Mitchum,too.But i never liked Newman...he,Redford & Warren Beatty,never did anything for me.
They were all nice looking, but they never gave me that...ZING!
Remember John Payne,Gilbert Roland & Gregory Peck?Peck's voice could melt my butter.
And Tyrone Power...hubba hubba!
We don't have anymore like them in Hollywood.
For curtains...i went to JCP...they have room darkening curtains & blinds. The blinds we got can be pushed up & down, with your hand....no strings.I love them.
They're called cordless blinds...

MoonDance
Your crush on Clint Walker since childhood reminds me of Marty Stuart and Connie Smith. I believe he's told that the first time he saw her at age twelve he said "one day I am going to marry that girl" and he did. Sorry yours didn't work out. LOL
You mentioned Gregory Pecks voice, Jimmy Stewart is the one I could have listened to all day and night. I had to stop this and listen to his poem "Beau" he wrote about his dog. It's on You Tube, it always brings me to tears.
I hope our ladies are well and happy, you need to post and let us know your still kicking.
Not a great deal going on around here, I've put off so many things I needed to do that next week I'll be running errands everyday.
I spoke the other day about the siding on the overhang falling down and the repairman would be here one day. Well apparently they came over Thursday and fixed it and I slept through the whole thing. Can you imagine somebody hammering on the house and not hearing it? I never heard a thing. When I took the trash bin around back Thursday evening I noticed it was done and couldn't imagine because I have not left the house. I'm just grateful they fixed it and didn't pass me by because I didn't hear them and come out to pay them. I got the bill today, wrote the check and will mail it tomorrow and be happy it's finished. One thing done and many to go.
My mail-person isn't happy with me but I'm not going to lose sleep over it. Bless her heart as Jeff Foxworthy says. I have left a note asking for her to please shut my mailbox, she leaves it open daily. I have watched her from in here and see that she takes the back of her hand and flips it up and of course it doesn't shut. Today I left a note "Please be sure the door is shut. Thank You" I got a note back "Fix the mailbox." It will shut if she would just use the pressure of her little finger but no, she flips it. I suppose I'm asking too much. (sigh) I have some QVC packages coming today, I hope, so I guess I'll have to start setting the alarm because you know now she won't shut it! On my long list of concerns this holds the last spot so I'll learn to live with it, I don't need an irate postal worker on my hands.
My dear school friend in South Carolina had knee surgery Thursday and will be going home tomorrow. She called and said it was a success and she was feeling fine. She's missing her computer and her cat but I don't believe in that order. Maya, the cat, rules the roost let me tell ya, if Maya is in her computer chair she won't move her! When I do get my cat, and I am still going to get me one, I won't be that nice.
My cousin in Ky that always keeps me in stitches with her stories was telling me today that she (the piano player at church) and the preacher (he also sings) have been trying to decide on what he wanted to sing for Easter. They practiced several songs and he can't decide what he wants to do. I sent her the thing on You Tube about the elderly lady (I think in her 80's) dancing on Britian's Got Talent the other day. Someone sent it to me and I think somebody posted it on Viewpoints too. She wrote me today and told me she sent it to the preacher and suggested the two of them just do that little number and forget about him singing. LOL She is a hoot!
Retired Banker's daughter has been in the hospital, home now but far from out of the woods. All prayers would be appreciated.
Take care.
