Pete Seeger was an old time folkie and a champion of the working man. He followed in the steps of Woodie Guthrie. RIP Pete.

Gosh, I didn't realize he was so old. Same age as my dad. An entirely different kind of music than my dad likes though. I always thought of him as more my generation, but I was wrong about that.

If you have lyrics without music, it's a poem, or in this case, a Bible verse. Not a song Smile

Finally, someone who understands what I was saying. Seger contributed much more in his music besides lyrics.

Love the song Turn, Turn, Turn.

The Prayer of St. Francis -"Make Me A Chanel of Your Peace" was put to music and is sung in Church, too, as is the Lord's Prayer.

He didn't "write" Turn Turn Turn. It is a verbatim musical rendition of Ecclesiastes 3:1. He only wrote the last line and gave it a title.

Bless your heart for having to point that out. Just a hunch, but I'm pretty certain that anyone familiar with the song knows that the lyrics are taken from Ecclesiastes. But can anyone who's heard it ever read those words again without thinking of the beautiful melody? That's the magic of music. Let's celebrate the life of one of the most perfect examples of humanity on the planet; a gentle soul whom we were lucky enough to have for 94 years.

RIP Pete.
