Not sure where Tupperware is made today.  It sure was a great product - way back when.

I cannot part with my "lettuce bowl" circa 1960-70 something.  The lid has a large crack which I have taped over.  The bowl part is a lettuce green, just big enough to fit a head of iceburg lettuce - when that was all that was available.

These days I use it more for storing grapes or if I buy some green/red leaf lettuce.

I have looked for newer versions of this particular bowl but have never found anything I like as well.  It certainly has seen better days, and one day if I ever find a replacement I will toss it, but until then, I certainly have gotten a lot of use out of it.

Many on this thread are speaking from ignorance ( pretty sure no one anywhere is making 17 cents an hour).  I've lived in Asia and travelled several times to the Peoples Republic.  I obviously don't agree with their government or many other aspects of their society but they have made remarkable strides in last forty years in providing a better quality of life and a future for many of their multitude of citizens ( as has Japan, S.Korea and Vietnam among other Asian countries).  It saddens me that many of you discount these advances out of hand; face it: we live in a global economy! There are things we no longer produce that we should bring home but not all of it, not by a long shot!  I resent that many of you equate overseas ( specifically Asia, specifically China with shoddy workmanship : not true!

@chickenbutt -- I have an old, giganzo Tupperware yellow bowl.  I wonder if it's the same one you're talking about?   Most of my Tupperware is long gone, but I still have (and use!) that big yellow bowl.

@tototwo

I have that same bowl and use it often.  I seem to remember that it was part of a 3 bowl set of graduated sizes.

When I divorced and was packing up to move, I remember leaving the two smaller bowls for my husband and I took the biggest bowl.  That was 1980!

He later told me his "new" wife sold all my stuff at a yard sale.

I could have used those other two bowls Cat LOL

So glad to see someone else thinking this way. I used to buy Tupperware "replacements" all the time, and if I could still buy OLD TW styles, I'd still be buying it.

They replaced the handsome sleek measuring spoons and cups with those odd, twisted, ungainly looking sets that weren't as easy to hold or measure accurately with??

@Annabellethecat66   Most of the D&C tees I've gotten the past year or longer have not been made in China.  I've figured if they cost $39. they are non-Chinese but if they're $49+ they probably are made in China and the difference is the tariff.

I must add, I personally don't give a hoot where this stuff is made.

I agree with you. We want China and other countries to buy from us. Why would they if we don't buy from them?

All the hoopla about China is nuts. USA companies moved their manufacturing to China for higher profits and lower costs. Nothing will change until tax laws are changed for companies that outsource to other countries.

I think people would be surprised at some of the USA made items that have parts made in other countries but put together here.

Whoa, I missed the boat....tupperware and not Lock and Lock?  I have a few old pieces of Tupperware.  It was always good stuff too.

Several years ago I sought to replace my beloved Tupperware lettuce bowl w/Rubbermaid - a set of 3 rectangular/square containers w/an air window.  The largest rectangular one just doesn't fit lettuce very well, unless you take the lettuce apart and place the leaves in the container just so.  Also my Tupperware lettuce bowl doesn't quite fit these new large leafy lettuce heads I enjoy now (usually large red leaf or green leaf).  I have to cut the stalk area off and because the lid is all taped up, doesn't really seal tight anymore.

I do like the Rubbermaid containers but maybe its their shape that doesn't thrill me.  Is Lock n Lock that good?  What is everyone using to store their lettuces in?  I do like OXO products, but haven't seen a lettuce bowl.

I've gotten some other smaller storage bowls at WalMart and I don't need a huge set of them, just one really nice large lettuce/salad bowl with a good lid.  Woman Happy

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?
