The CEO indicated that the plan is to continue operations during the Chapter 11 proceedings.
Lots of businesses emerge successfully after the debt has been renegotiated.
Tupperware has $1.2 billion in debt versus $680 million assets.

@ROMARY wrote:Those Tupperware containers could last almost forever, as long as one doesn't 'melt' (or whatever else) them. (No microwave, piping hot water, etc.)
Taking good care of them, they do seal in the contents, etc. quite well.
I'm hoping they will return in a new, innovative way.
As long as the quality of the plastic (or whatever) remains in tact.
Made in USA would be nice.......
I agree with all you said.

I have some 49 year old Tupperware measuring cups that I still use! They were given to me at my bridal shower in 1975. The markings on them are still readable.
I also have a set of canisters that I still use for flour, rice, etc. that are nearly as old. Nothing beats Tupperware (at least the older stuff, don't have anything newer than 40 years old, lol!) for keeping things fresh.

When I married early 80s my friends from work gave me a huge surprise Tupperware shower and I could order what I wanted. I think I was able to get almost everything they made, plus I had some pieces that were my mom's. I still use them.

I read that. It's the end of an era. I remember Tupperware parties when I was a kid and my mom and Nana hosted them. And when I was a young wife and mom, it's how we socialized. All those house parties. When I returned to work, ladies would bring in the catalog and we'd buy our Tupperware. And then Tupperware just sort of disappeared. When they showed up on HSN, I was surprised because I assumed they'd gone out of business. I think they just didn't keep up with the times.

Sorry to hear about this... they've been around "forever" and I still enjoy some old pieces from my mother.

I find it pretty much useless since it cant go in the microwave. I love my Pyrex or Anchor Hocking.
