When you meet God in prayer, everything becomes new. Lord, may
I be humbly joyful in my faith.

Scripture for the day:

"There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear." ~ 1 John 4:18

Meditation for the day:

Fear is the curse of the world. Our fears can be many. Fear is everywhere.
I can fight fear as I would a plague. I can turn it out of my life. There
is not room for fear in the heart in which God dwells. Fear cannot exist
where true love is or where faith lives. So I need not fear. Fear is evil,
but "perfect love casts out fear." Fear can destroy hope and hope is
necessary for all of us!

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may have not fear. I pray that I may cast all fear out of my
life.

Peace of Jesus to you all!! Today he had to plow out again, and it stopped
snowing. 11 inches in our town - a record. We sure will have a white
Christmas!!! Today I put the finishing touches on the tree and decorated
the house more. Sammy showed some signs of improvement by playing with his
favorite stuffed animal tonight - that made our hearts smile! Talked a bit
to Darla tonight - she's is such pain - says she's going to a neurologist
next week - I wonder that they can do for her. I keep praying for her
healing - it's been ten years now since our accident!! She doesn't feel
she'll ever get healed - so we pray and pray for a miracle! Always praying
for miracles - why not? With God all things are possible - all according to
His Will. Praying for you all daily - and thanks for your prayers for us.
Take care and God be with you in all that you do.

Praying Through Exhaustion

Oh Lord, I am so tired. It seems like the lists of to-do's get longer each
day. Help me, dear Jesus. Let me feel your loving arms wrap me tightly in
the warm embrace of your endless love. Teach me to make choices about my
time, to remember what is important this season and to say "NO" whenever my
Yes would take me away from your peace. Fill me with patience, love and a
sense of humor. Remind me of your deep love for me and let the fire of that
love be something I can share with everyone around me.

CHRISTMAS:

1ST CORINTHIANS 13 STYLE

If I decorate my house perfectly with plaid bows,
strands of twinkling lights and shiny balls,
but do not show love to my family,
I'm just another decorator.

If I slave away in the kitchen,
baking dozens of Christmas cookies,
preparing gourmet meals
and arranging a beautifully adorned table at mealtime,
but do not show love to my family,
I'm just another cook.

If I work at the soup kitchen,
carol in the nursing home and give all that I have to charity,
but do not show love to my family,
it profits me nothing.

If I trim the spruce with shimmering angels and crocheted snowflakes,
attend a myriad of holiday parties and sing in the choir's cantata
but do not focus on Christ,
I have missed the point.

Love stops the cooking to hug the child.

Love sets aside the decorating to kiss the husband.

Love is kind, though harried and tired.

Love doesn't envy another's home
that has coordinated Christmas china and table linens.

Love doesn't yell at the kids to get out of the way.

Love doesn't give only to those
who are able to give in return
but rejoices in giving to those who can't.

Love bears all things,
believes all things,
hopes all things,
endures all things.

Love never fails.
Video games will break,
pearl necklaces will be lost,
golf clubs will rust.
But giving the gift of love will endure.

Advent Prayer

God of power and mercy, open our hearts in welcome.
Remove the things that hinder us from receiving Christ with joy,
so that we may share His wisdom and become one
with Him when He comes in glory,
for He lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.

Santa's Christmas Prayer

The sleigh was packed,
the reindeer were fed,
But Santa still knelt
by the side of the bed.

"Dear Father," he prayed
"Be with me tonight.
There's much work to do
and my schedule is tight.

I must jump in my sleigh
and streak through the sky,
Knowing full well
that a reindeer can't fly.

I will visit each household
before the first light,
I'll cover the world
and all in one night.

With sleigh bells a-ringing,
I'll land on each roof,
Amid the soft clatter
of each little hoof.

To get in the house
is the difficult part,
So I'll slide down the chimney
of each little heart.

My sack will hold toys
to grant all their wishes.
The supply will be endless
like the loaves and the fishes.

I will fill all the stockings
and not leave a track.
I'll eat every cookie
that's left for my snack.

I can do all these things Lord,
only through You,
I just need your blessing,
then it's easy to do.

All this is to honor
the birth of the One,
That was sent to redeem us,
Your most Holy Son.

So to all of my friends,
lest Your glory I rob,
Please Lord, remind them,
who gave me this job."

The U in Jesus

Before U were thought of or time had begun,

God even stuck U in the name of His Son.

And each time U pray, you'll see it's true

You can't spell out JesUs and not include U.

You're a pretty big part of His wonderful name,

For U, He was born; that's why He came.

And His great love for U is the reason He died.

It even takes U to spell crUcified.

Isn't it thrilling and splendidly grand

He rose from the dead, with U in His plan.

The stones split away, the gold trUmpet blew,

and this word resUrrection is spelled with a U.

When JesUs left earth at His upward ascension,

He felt there was one thing He just had to mention.

"Go into the world and tell them it's true

That I love them all -

Just like I love U".

So many great people are spelled with a U,

Don't they have a right to know JesUs too?

It all depends now on what U will do,

He'd like them to know

But it all starts with U.
