God can calm your fears, bring rest to your worry and fix your broken heart
if
only you give Him all of the pieces. Lord, I ask You to fill me with Your
peace
as I turn my troubles over to You.

Scripture for the day:

"Do not forsake me, O LORD; O my God, do not be far from me; make haste
to help me, O Lord, my salvation." ~Psalm 38:21-22

Meditation of the day:

It is not our circumstances that need altering so much as ourselves.
After we have changed, conditions will naturally change. We need spare
no effort to become all that God would have us become. We can follow
every good leading of our conscience. We can take each day with no
backward look. We can face the day's problems with God, and seek God's
help and guidance as to what we should do in every situation that may
arise. We need never look back. We need not leave until tomorrow the
thing that we are guided to do today.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that God will help me to become all that God would have me be.
I pray that I may face today's problems with good grace.

Hello all you positive pals and grateful gals!! Today we were blessed by
emptying out the freezer and making a delicious steak soup, steak left over
from last night, it was tough, so thought boil it in soup! Used a lot of
good garden stuff in it - No measuring, just dumping, and it turned out
good. It's cool enough for soups now too. Low tonight is forecast to be 36
degrees. Sure hope it doesn't get lower and freezes. Tonight was doggie
school - six dogs in the class! Sammy was scared and crawled in his shell,
under the seat! Well, I'm out of words so praying for all of you and thanks
for your prayers for us. Very much appreciated.

Be Yourself

Be strong enough to face the world each day.
Be weak enough to know you cannot do everything.

Be generous to those who need your help.
Be frugal with what you need yourself.

Be willing to share your joys.
Be willing to share the sorrows of others.

Be a leader when you see a path others have missed.
Be a follower when you are shrouded in the midst of uncertainty.

Be the first to congratulate an opponent who succeeds.
Be the last to criticize a colleague who fails.

Be sure where your next step will fall, so that you will not stumble.
Be sure of your final destination, in case you are going the wrong way.

Be loving to those who love you.
Be loving to those who do not love you, and they may change.

Above all, be yourself!

GUIDANCE

September 18, 2012

When I meditated on the word guidance, I kept seeing "dance" at the end of
the word. I remember reading that doing God's will is a lot like dancing.
When two people try to lead, nothing feels right. The movement doesn't flow
with the music, and everything is quite uncomfortable and jerky.

When one person relaxes and lets the other lead, both bodies begin to flow
with the music. One gives gentle cues, perhaps with a nudge to the back or
by pressing lightly in one direction or another. It's as if two become one
body, moving beautifully. The dance takes surrender, willingness, and
attentiveness from one person and gentle guidance and skill from the other.

My eyes drew back to the word guidance. When I saw "G," I thought of God,
followed by "u" and "i." God, "u" and "I" dance. God, you, and I dance.
This statement is what guidance means to me.

As I lowered my head, I became willing to trust that I would get guidance
about my life.

Once again, I became willing to let God lead.

Where there is...

Where there is charity and wisdom, there is neither fear nor ignorance.
Where there is patience and humility, there is neither anger nor vexation.
Where there is poverty and joy, there is neither greed nor avarice.
Where there is peace and meditation, there is neither anxiety nor doubt.

Saint Francis of Assisi

The Power of One

One song can spark a moment,
One flower can wake the dream.
One tree can start a forest,
One bird can herald spring.

One smile begins a friendship,
One handclasp lifts a soul.
One star can guide a ship at sea,
One word can frame the goal.

One vote can change a nation,
One sunbeam lights a room.
One candle wipes out darkness,
One laugh will conquer gloom.

One step must start each journey,
One word must start each prayer.
One hope will raise our spirits,
One touch can show you care.

One voice can speak with wisdom,
One heart can know what is true.
One life can make the difference,

You see, it's up to you!

A BIGGER FRYING PAN

Two men went fishing. One man was an experienced fisherman, the other
wasn't. Every time the experienced fisherman caught a big fish, he put it in
his ice chest to keep it fresh. Whenever the inexperienced fisherman caught
a big fish, he threw it back. The experienced fisherman watched this go on
all day and finally got tired of seeing this man waste good fish. "Why do
you keep throwing back all the big fish you catch?" he asked.

The inexperienced fisherman replied, "I only have a small frying pan."

Sometimes, like that fisherman, we throw back the big plans, big dreams, big
jobs, big opportunities that God gives us. Our faith is too small. We laugh
at that fisherman who didn't figure out that all he needed was a bigger
frying pan; yet how ready are we to increase the size of our faith?

Whether it's a problem or a possibility, God will never give you anything
bigger than you can handle. That means we can confidently walk into anything
God brings our way.

Jeremiah 33:2-3 "Thus saith the LORD the maker thereof, the LORD that formed
it, to establish it; the LORD is his name; Call unto me, and I will answer
thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not."

James 1:5-6 "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to
all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let
him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of
the sea driven with the wind and tossed."

Psalm 111:1-5 "Praise ye the LORD. I will praise the LORD with my whole
heart, in the assembly of the upright, and in the congregation. The works of
the LORD are great, sought out of all them that have pleasure therein. His
work is honourable and glorious: and his righteousness endureth for ever. He
hath made his wonderful works to be remembered: the LORD is gracious and
full of compassion. He hath given meat unto them that fear him: he will ever
be mindful of his covenant."

Jeremiah 29:11-13 "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith
the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will
hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search
for me with all your heart."

Lessons to Learn Today

I will learn that true happiness is not always to achieve my goals, but to
learn to appreciate with what I have achieved.

I will learn that I should control my attitude,
and not let my attitude control me.

I will learn that to be rich is not to have
the most, but to need the least.

I will learn that it is futile to compare myself to others, because there is
always someone better or worse than I am.

I will learn that it takes years to build trust,
and a few seconds to destroy it.

I will learn that there are people who love me very much, but simply do not
know how to show their feelings.

I will learn to forgive by practicing forgiveness.

I will learn that I cannot make anyone love me,
but learn to let myself be loved.

I will learn that what is most valuable is not what I have in my life, but
who I have in my life.

I will learn that it only takes a few seconds to hurt people I love, and
that it can take years to heal.

Prayer for Strength in Weakness
Lord Jesus Christ, King of kings, you have power over life and death. You
know even things that are uncertain and obscure, and our very thoughts and
feelings are not hidden from you. Cleanse me from my secret faults, and I
have done wrong and you saw it. You know how weak I am, both in soul and in
body. Give me strength, O Lord, in my frailty and sustain me in my
sufferings. Grant me a prudent judgement, dear Lord, and let me always be
mindful of your blessings. Let me retain until the end your grace that has
protected me till now.
St Ephrem of Syria, Deacon, Poet and Doctor

Mother Teresa said...

Trust in the good God who loves us, who cares for us,
who sees all, knows all, can do all things
for my good and the good of souls.
One thing Jesus asks of me: that I lean upon Him;
that in Him alone I put complete trust;
that I surrender myself to Him unreservedly.
