I think it is a joke that the police investigate themselves. No disrespect to those in Law Enforcement but there are good people and bad people everywhere. I made a complaint about a Law Enforcement Officer and was interviewed by internal affairs. I then received a letter saying that my accusations were unfounded. I was angry, really angry. Then, in the trial proceedings it came out that what I had accused the officer of doing turned out to be true. The officer lied to internal affairs. I do think some type of outside agency should look into accusations of police misconduct. In my town there was a girl who was killed by her boyfriends police issued gun. There were 2 shots and they police, investigating their own determined suicide. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement disagreed. There are many questions about the case and the conduct of the police department. The story was on Dateline. The officer in question is still working as an officer.

It was horrible, he should lose his job.

She was walking near a freeway with no shoes on, he ordered her to stop. She kept on going so he jumped her and beat her. In particular, he gave her head a pounding and punching.

It was reported that she's mentally ill.

He claimed she resisted arrest. They have two videos of him doing this and so far, there is no sign of her resisting arrest.

What was the outcome of the female professor arrested for jaywalking?

He asked for her license .... the first thing I thought was you don't need a driver's license to WALK! LOL

If I'm not mistaken that was an off-duty police officer that assisted but it did stop the punches.

They always ask for ID (a license). Even in NYC when so many people rely on public transportation.

If another citizen tries to interfere, especially if he or she touches a cop, they have the right to beat that person, too.

The best thing you can do, from what I hear, is film it for the record. I'd at least yell at the cop, telling him to stop, that I was an eyewitness to what he was doing.

It was sickening for me...I could not watch it all when he was hitting her....her head hitting the pavement with every punch. Smiley Sad I hope she sues that police department for mega millions and that officer does jail time for years. NO EXCUSE for that!

In Buffalo, there have been many cases where cops have broken or taken away people's phones if they see they are taping...or they are also arrested.

Glad the attack on this woman was recorded and handed over. I have the utmost respect for law enforcement but this officer was out of control.

They just had on the news in Pittsburgh a policeman punching a girl repeatedly in the stomach.

I wonder why they don't use pepperspray in these cases? I hate to see any man, police or not, punching a woman.
