It was rumored back in 2010 that she had pancreatic cancer, her oncologist confirmed it today. Wow- that's a long time to be fighting such a dreadful disease. She was one strong, brave woman! RIP Aretha.

There are articles talking about her life, and some of it is so sad, I just wanted to give everyone a nice article to read.

For all she suffered she was strong ,and a survivor, and I think it is best to let her leave us on a high note

She was amazing. I loved all her music.and I’ll never forget her singing at the Obama inauguration in January, 2009. My daughter attended the historic event. Temperatures were at record lows and Aretha worried that her voice would be affected. In that fabulous grey hat, she was fantastic! RIP, Ms Franklin.

One of the great singers, period, of all time. She surpassed color barriers and was an inspiration for generations of singers of all races.

Lawrence O'Donnell had a wonderful tribute on his show tonight. Smoky Robinson and Michael Eric Dyson gave us their memories of her.
