I wish we had a "Travel" topic here, but since we don't I'm posting this here.

We just returned from a trip to Ireland. Everything was great except for the flights.

First of all, we couldn't get a direct flight, so we had to make a connection in Philadelphia. Since it was an over-seas flight, they recommend getting to the airport 3 hours prior to take off. As I said our flight was late so we had at least an extra hour of waiting around the airport. That put everyone in a foul mood before we even boarded!

Since we flew coach, we endured horrid food which was literally thrown at us. The food looked like a cheap frozen dinner and was disgusting. I couldn't eat any of it except a piece of the roll. It was an overnight flight, so right before landing we got "breakfast". Breakfast was a packaged muffin top and your choice of beverage. This time the muffin tops were actually thrown at us, kind of like playing Frisbee.

Besides all this, we all know how uncomfortable the seats are and how little leg room there is.

Dh refuses to fly first class; he thinks it's a total waste of money. So, unless we get a free ticket or upgrade we will be flying coach.

Since airlines have cut back on the number of flights, almost all flights are full so there is little chance of getting an empty seat next to yours to stretch out in. And, for the same reason, it's impossible to get an upgrade to first class cheaply. You used to be able to upgrade to first class for very little money if there were empty seats.

My question to you all is this, how can you fly comfortably and not end up irritated and angry by the end of your journey? I tried meds, but could only sleep short periods of time. My goal was to sleep for the entire flight.

I appreciate any suggestions! Thank you! Smile
