Just tragic....no matter how it happened. My heart goes out to the parents.

I ca not imagine the horror of witnessing this, especially by the parents.

Some of you are blaming the victim's mom? Not the amusement park? Weird. Very weird.

Tyre was NOT w/his parents.

For real? Have you never been to an amusement park with a teenager? They don't hang out with their parents, they hang out with their friends! He was fourteen! No parent is going to stop a kid that age from getting on a ride just because the parent thinks it's too risky.
Why do some people always feel the need to blame parents for everything

Blame the victim, blame the parents, that is how it goes here with some folks.

Indeed. I'm wondering why though...

nbc:A spokesperson with the state's Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services said its investigation is underway and inspectors will be on site Friday. The spokesperson declined further comment.
Officials with the department said Friday the Free Fall ride was inspected for the first time on Dec. 20. No deficiencies were found and the ride passed its inspection, officials said.
Because Free Fall is a new ride, and the agency conducts safety inspections twice a year, no additional inspections on it had occurred prior to Thursday night, officials said.
Carl Sampson, Tyre's uncle, said the 14 year old teen was in Florida with teammates from his football team. Tyre stood 6-feet-6 and weighed about 280 pounds as an eighth-grader, Sampson said.

The blame rests entirely with whomever checked the harness to make sure it was latched and secure. This was a very large teenager, who may have been too heavy to secure for the ride.
Uncertain if they had size, or weight limits, but in viewing some of the photos, it seems his harness prior to take off, isn't latched tight like that of the other riders next to him. It looks to be floating atop his chest. If so, allowing him to ride was careless negligence.
