I returned two items to Amazon recently.  One was on 7/31 and the other on 8/2.  I returned them the new way by dropping them off unboxed at the UPS store.  My credit card was credited the same day.

They gave me a receipt with a tracking # for each item.  Every time I check it says "shipment ready for UPS."  I am assuming when you return things this way they wait until they get a box full and then send it to Amazon.  It seems strange that Amazon would want this deal where they have to wait so long for their returns.  Maybe it saves them so much money in return shipping that it's worth it.  Has anyone else tried to track a return that you dropped off unboxed?

I'm not concerned since I've already gotten my refund, but it's a different way of doing returns.

@NickNack  I did use this new way last week.  It was so easy and within 2 hours I had my refund.  I asked the UPS employee how they liked this new way and she said that it was definately keeping them busy.  She has three big boxes of stuff that was being returned to Amazon.

Re: Tracking Returns To Amazon

I have to tell you what happened yesterday. I had to return something and when I checked the ways of returning ,everything was $22 EXCEPT Kohls which was free !

So off I went to Kohl and arrived around 10:30-11:00. Their was a separate line for Amazon and their was no one there although the store was very busy. It took 2-3 minutes to get a receipt and attached was a voucher for $25 off of my next purchase no stipulations no spending a certain amount.

I asked if I could use it now and she said absolutely.

On top of it all, by the time I got out to the car, a got an e-mail saying your refund has been processed and your funds are ready to use.

Can anyone beat Amazon ? $22 for shipping, $25 free Kohls stuff and credit card credited immediately. No wonder all the retail shoppes are going out of business. They just can't compete.

Re: Tracking Returns To Amazon

I've only ever returned two things to Amazon and both times the return shipping was free with UPS.

@CelticCrafter  I have returned about 6 things in the past 2 years and this was the first thing that ever came up as a charge. Maybe because it was big and bulky . I was very glad to save the $22.

@NickNack  Thanks so much for starting this conversation. I was also wondering why, when I sent my return to Amazon back with them packing it, doesn't it give me any return shipping info. My return was over a month ago and when I track my order it just says that its ready for shipment. I did get my refund but I was wondering if they got it.

@ID2   I went to the UPS store the other day for something else and asked them about this.  They return everything in one big box, so it has a different tracking #.  It will never show you on your tracking # when they receive it.  I noticed when looking through my orders on Amazon's website that it will tell you if your order is still in transit or if they've received it.

@Keybra   AFter the top three ways of returning if you click on "more ways" it will bring up the UPS Store, which is also free.  Kohl's and the UPS Store will package your returns and send them to Amazon for free.  It's not just Kohl's.

@Keybra, returns to Amazon via Kohls and UPS are free. Was the $22 charge at the Post Office?

@Sage04   If Amazon offers the shipping without the box it's free.  If they offer with or without the box, then they charge for with the box if you choose that over the other.  It could be at the UPS Store.  You still have the option of taking it to the UPS store without the box for free.  I hope this makes sense.  I just did this a couple of days ago.
