The toxicology report on the Cobb County child who died as a result of being left in a hot car came back negative, according to the Cobb County Police Department.
The department said that although the report is complete, it will not be released until the entire investigation is complete.
The Cobb County Medical Examiner's Office completed an autopsy June 19 and concluded the cause of 22-month-old Cooper Harris' death was hyperthermia, a condition in which the temperature of the body spikes due to the heat. The investigative information suggests the manner of death is homicide.
The father, Justin Ross Harris, is charged with murder and child cruelty.
Cooper died on June 18 after his father left him in his car for hours while he went to work.

So they didn't bother to drug him first? That's even worse!

What evil parents this poor child had the horrific unfortunate luck to have... by no choice of his own.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but I am, only because these parents aren't really young teenagers who are in over their heads and don't know what to do with a baby. They look like they're old enough to know better and this was the baby they begged for and wanted all along.

Admittedly I haven't been following this case very closely, but I've been reading the threads.
Didn't the daycare call one or both of his parents when Cooper didn't show up? I would think they'd be obligated to call to see why the child wasn't there. Very strange.

Where did it say that? I just saw that they are not releasing the tox report, but they did give the cause of death.
Sounds like, to me anyway, that the tox report might contain something that will further the theory of the manner of death being homicide.

I read a report that the daycare called the mother and her response was that her husband must have left him in the car. I don't know if she was serious or if she thought she was being funny.

If the mother makes a remark like that, don't you think the daycare worker would try getting ahold of the father's boss or someone that would be able to reach him? Doing SOMETHING to find out where the child was? I know I would. Especially since the daycare is located on-site where he works, they must know how to reach them at work.

The first line of the OP.

ITA. If I worked at the daycare and a parent made a flip comment like that, it would raise a huge red flag and I would report it immediately. I can understand a parent forgetting to report that their child had a doctor appt. and would be arriving at daycare later than usual, but obviously since the mother didn't have a valid explanation, the daycare worker should have followed up.
