It is a joke in my opinion. My 4 was losing its battery fast and I really wanted to wait for the 6. But they say it isn't coming until Fall. It would have cost me $79 for the battery and sending the phone off and the 5S was free with my contract so I got it.

I have put my thumb print and my forefinger in it's memory and most of the time it doesn't work and tells me to put in my code. Bummer.

Re: Touch ID on the iphone 5S?

I still happily own a dumb phone but one question about the fingerprint technology..........

If you are in an accident and first responders pick up your phone to call your emergency contact (Your ICE number).......how do they get to this if your phone is locked?

I haven't gotten that far yet. Still trying to open the darn thing with my fingerprint. Maybe someone knowledgeable will answer. That wouldn't be me.

Re: Touch ID on the iphone 5S?

I had the finger swipe feature on my last laptop (HP) and it didn't work half the time. I had to log in using my password, when my fingerprint got rejected.

I would never want this on my i phone.

I just got the 5s and mine works great with the thumbprint. Are you sure you are positioning it correctly?

I have the finger swipe and so far, so good on my iPhone. I won't renew though. Next time I want a Smart Phone.

An iPhone is a smart phone.

An iPhone is a smart phone.

Apple and it's representatives don't think so.
Next time, I want a non-Apple smart phone.

Re: Touch ID on the iphone 5S?

I have an iPhone 5S and the fingerprint sensor works every time without fail. I would go into:

Settings > Touch ID & Passcode (you will be prompted to enter your 4-digit passcode) and it will allow you to add a new fingerprint. Maybe the scan didn't take well. Wipe the fingerprint sensor with a microfiber cloth and try taking the scan again.
