Some of images captured today. Don't know if this in Winterset Iowa. Couple of states, but an F4 in Iowa. I think killed 6. 1 more in another state.

I was saddened to learn that several had died and that two children were among the dead.
Horrible. Sad.

I followed this as it happened on Saturday. I love Iowa. Such a beautiful state and wonderful people.

My heart breaks for the people involved in this storm system. It makes me literally sick the way some weather broadcasters and chasers get all hyped up and act like it is so cool. So neat. So exciting.
People die, are maimed for life, lose everthing they ever held dear and worked for or have PTSD. How much fun is that? It happens to be a sensitive subject with me, probably should shut up now for the rest of spring. . .

It was a crazy weather day...we are no strangers to tornadoes in Iowa but it's unusual for them this early in the season. So much sad news lately, all 4 killed were from the same family and the 2 children were both under 5. I think they upgraded it to an EF4 tornado. We got up to 60 degrees before the storms broke out. Last night we got 2-5" of snow across the state and down in the 20's today. March is always a roller coaster weather ride. Winterset is in Madison County where the "Bridges of Madison County" are. I haven't heard anything about damage to them so I'm hoping they were spared.

Yes, those are big tornadoes. In Illinois where I live we had thunderstorms and now we have snow and more coming I belileve on Friday. Also cold weather in the 20's. Crazy weather.

So sorry. Sending prayers.

The tornadoes were bad, but still not as as bad as the Tri State Tornado. Killed nearly 700 people. I think the tornado tore through the states of IL,IN & MO and stayed on the ground almost 2 hours. March 18, 1925. Outside of Spring, a warm winter will do the same amount of damage. Midwest also gets derecho, (which some people think are worst than tornadoes). They are straight line winds. The opposite of tornadoes. They do more damage though. Maryland got one when it traveled from Iowa to the Delmarva Peninsula. In June 2012. I experienced that. Only time I was ever afraid in a storm. My husbasnd, son and I ran to the basement. It knocked down trees, but our home wasn't damaged.

I went through the August 2020 Derecho in Iowa. We were on the edge of it so didn't get the full brunt of it but I still lost a lot of trees. Cedar Rapids took a direct hit and suffered extensive damage. I'd have to say it was every bit as scary as a tornado. They should be taken seriously!
