The seat kind are handy, too. Granny would use her seat part as a table when she'd sit in a chair in the living room.

I tried to make the story funny, but I guess my fear showed through.
It was funny Ford, but yes, we understand. We have them a lot and we can't hear the sirens, which are close to us, unless we are actually outside.

Ford ~ we're having crazy weather in the Chicagoland area too. It's 62 degrees right now and it's the middle of July. We have had rain most every day with high winds. Saturday they canceled Taste of Chicago for the entire day which was sad for the tourists that plan their vacations around this event.
It has to be hard when you're not very mobile. And, I did find the humor in your post.

I know you are. That "thing" that came through during the winter is here again. We don't know what to expect anymore . . . any of us.

I grew up in "tornado alley." I remember my daddy throwing my grandmother over his shoulder and heading down the stairs of our storm cellar.
I don't think this building has a contingency plan for anything. It's just senior living, and has no interest in our health or well being. I'm not complaining, it's a nice place and the rent is very low. But, for most things, we are on our own.

Ford, first of all, you write really well. And, wow, I'm tired just reading your tale.
So glad you made it safely back to your bed. I bet that felt really good.

Thank you! And yes, it really did feel good.

Great narrative on your experience!
Glad you made it through okay.

You really should blog, JSS.

I have thought of it JSS, because I love to write. But I'm afraid I would reveal too much. When I first started posting here, I revealed too much, and I'm still paying for it, courtesy of my detractors. I still talk about my life because we are so limited in addressing other issues, but I am more careful in what I reveal.
Anyway, thanks for the compliment!
