I agree
They're so destructive. They have been getting into my neighbor's attic. It's cost her hundreds of dollars in repairs

Squirrels have, in a previous house, cost us big bucks for a trapper to eliminate a family of them in our attic, and then............spring came, our air conditioning system was turned on and we heard a huge explosion.....the squirrels had chewed through the wires. Do we love squirrels-- or not?
And then, of course, we could also get into a discussion of cockroaches, the logical next step when mentioning intolerable pests.

We have a lot of rats in our area.If we put out bait it gets eaten right away.I find dead rats in my flower garden. We had them in our crawl space once and spent a fortune getting that taken care. They workers had to wear the hasmat type suits to remove some soil and old insulation from the crawl space. It stunk like heck and still makes me crawl to think about it.Check all of your outdoor vents because they had chewed through some of ours to gain entry.

Cities with ports get rats, they come in on the ships.

The only problem that I have with rat bait, is that it can cause secondary poisoning.
The rat eats the poison, then an owl, fox, cat, etc eats the rat, and they in turn get poisoned and die.

I had rats as pets (as well as mice) usually rescued from our biology lab at HS ( they were the future meal for the giant snake that lived there). Then there were the hooded rats I took from someone whose parent was terrified of them.
Rats are very intelligent; just like crows. It's no surprise that they are thriving where there is food, water and shelter on a constant basis. They are, for the most part, out of site most of the time and learn quickly when to be afraid and when not to be when it comes to their "enemies". No surprise at all that large cities have issues.

So if the rats were rescued from the h.s. lab, so that wouldn't be eaten by the snakes, the snakes then were left to starve?
