@shaggygirl wrote:Too much Dooney, too much Philosophy, too much Vionics, too much IT........too much of too many things. And why are so many of the Dooney bags trimmed in that awful orange leather? Is that their trademark or something? So many of otherwise pretty colors are diminished by that godawful trim. Well no doubt thousand of ladies totally disagree with me on that based on all the sales. Different strokes and all that.
I also think that horrible color trim ruins the bags.
Any time I see a Dooney presentation, I immediately change the channel .... and wish Bruce Makowsky was still in the handbag biz. lol

Dooney is almost twice the price on QVC as it is other places. The I Love Dooney site is the only place to buy them at a reasonable price.

While QVC Does Dooney To Death, I bought my first Anuschka bag this morning and made my first Evine purchase. Granted, they aren't "everyday" bags, but if QVC switched their handbag offerings up a bit more to unique or different they could appeal to a new different market.

Dooney isn't as relevant in fashion as it used to be. It's almost become a more mature brand.

Their bags are not the greatest thing since sliced bread and IMO are overpriced for the quality of the "special" products QVC sells, i.e. not as good quality or manufacture as original, pre-QVC Dooneys. I purchased one years ago and promptly returned it. I didn't like the leather, the size or the built-in rigidity. And I'd been a fan of dept store Dooneys before that.
Dooney is probably only available at all these days because of QVC's clear financial interest in it. It might have gone belly up a while ago if not for QVC.
I have no desire for one. Nor do I have any interest whatever in anything the phony Lisa Rinna hawks at QVC.
@Moonchilde, it's that "built-in rigidity" that you mention that has always stopped me from purchasing. I don't like very structured handbags, primarily because they tend to be so deep that they stick out from the body too much. And that would overwhelm my small frame.
I did once buy one of their Florentine bags because of the leather. When I realized that they weren't kidding whent they mentioned that scratches were normal and all you had to do was rub them out, it went back. I was rubbing the heck out of that darn bag just to find more and more scratches. I mean, I like "distressed" leather, but it comes that way.

@suzyQ3, seeing and feeling the one I ordered demonstrated to me that the Dooney bags QVC sells are not the same bags that the major dept stores once carried. Different construction and cheaper leather as well as meh vinyl for premium leather prices.
I know what you mean about scratchable leather - unless it's distress all over, it's an ugly scratch that mars the bag.

It's not just Dooney... it's the same ten or so brands, over and over again in a relentless, boring loop.

After seeing all the Dooney bags in TJMaxx for a fraction of the price, I just don't want to pay the high prices anymore.

Hope you love your Anuschka bag. I had one I used for many years and got so many compliments on it. It was one of the more "quietly painted" bags (for not being able to think of a better description). Now my daughter owns it and uses it. I do have now an Anuschka wallet that is very pretty and quite often when I pull it out in a store someone will comment on it. You just cannot wear their bags out.

I love Dooney bags. Everything about them appeals to me, although I didn't care for the shape of the recent TSV.
That being said, I agree that they're on air way too much. I've picked up a couple of Dooney TSVs over the years with the rest of my collection coming from Lunchtime Specials where I saved quite a bit of money.
