yeah, June, like the 8 Syrans caught on our Texas border ....
They were NOT "caught." They approached the border patol and asked for asylum which is proper procedure for seeking asylum. They were taken to the proper place. The women and children were then taken to a place for families to stay and the men were taken to a detention center where they will await processing, which will take time. I wish the reporting on this was accurate in the headline before people jump to conclusions. The report on the Honduras men with fake passports is that they have not found any terrorist ties, nor are they on the no fly list. The ones in Paris WERE on a no fly list and were known to authorities.

FYI:
CNN Muslim rep on now, 7:55 am PT.
Woman, last name Ahmed, head of American Muslim Counsel, or something close to that title, I only caught it onscreen for a minute.

I admit that was my first thought, too! ![]()

I only watch so much of it and then on to something else. If there is nothing new to report, I just can't see going over it all hour after hour. I will never forget CNN's coverage of the missing plane. It became ludicrous after a while. They were showing model airplanes like no one had ever seen a plane before. That did it for me. CNN is the worst at this.

I agree there is a lot of coverage. I think everyone needs to decide what is best for them and find the line between being informed and obsessed but mental health professionals absolutely do warn that too much can be detrimental to your mental health. CBS just ran an article on how people who watch too much can absolutely have that affect them in forms of anxiety and depression, with increased drinking, drug and smoking to cope, sometimes not even realizing it. I absolutely do want to know what is going on and be informed but balance is important so I know when I need to use my remote.
There was a study done after the marathon bombings in Boston that showed how much repeated media exposure was so strongly associated with acute stress. A previous study by the same research group that did the Boston study showed how watching 4 or more hours of Sept 11th footage even led to increases in physical ailments up 3 yrs after watching it.

I agree! Since they found a missing piece from that plane, we've heard nothing more about it!!!

There are far more incidents than that one that should be worrisome. Central and South America have proven to be great for recruitment, and quite a few Korans and prayer blankets have been found in Mexico and Texas along the border. There's also a situation where maps of Mexico are being given to what are described as "foreigners."
They've said exactly what their intentions are, they've proven to be true to their word, and yet we're dismissing it as nothing. As someone with experience in that part of the world, I was warning about this 30 years ago. It's also why I said "what took them so long" in 2001. I wasn't shocked in the least.
