Gee, when I get tired of all of the non-stop coverage, I just change the channel.

But, then again, I'm just weird like that.

When their ratings start to diminish, they will change their programming.

The other night, I watched (again) the movie "Secretariat" on tv.

It was a nice change of pace.Woman Happy

No one wants to equate this to that, but....

A tragedy is a HUGE, HUGE, HUGE money-maker for all media.

Lots of ratings.

Lots of advertisers.

Lots of money.

Personally, I'd rather they cover these things so that I'm aware of what's going on in the world and can be vigilant.  Not scared, just vigilant.

As for giving these terrorists ideas - they already have the ideas!  The reason the media and world leaders are raising a red flag about something like posing as a refugee is because they have already done that.  Everyone needs to be aware that it could happen again so that we can be proactive, not reactive once another tragedy has occurred.

And, if ISIS attacks NYC or D.C. and the people haven't been alerted to the possibility and it then comes out that the PTB knew of the threat...well, what would you say then?

I agree that, if you find it too much, you should switch the TV off or watch something else.

I doubt very much that anyone in the civilized world (media or otherwise) is rubbing his hands with glee thinking "Wow!  Hundreds of people dead or maimed.  Great for ratings!!!"

I get where the OP is coming from.  It's gets to the point where they just repeat the same thing over and over again.  Then they start speculating, i.e., making things up.

As in the coverage for "War In The Gulf" -- give the media 24 hours and there will be a title and a theme song.

For posterity sake, I will relate that I remember Wolf Blitzer ducking due to scud missles overhead.  We watched briefings of troops in real time, too.

Then, the enemy forces figured out how to tell where our troops were stationed because they watch TV, too.

Re: Too Much Coverage!

[ Edited ]

For me, war was definitively declared on 9-11.  Although a case can be made (and has been made by several of my friends in the military) that, even tho some of our leaders would not call it so, the war was on prior to that...the 1993 World Trade Center attack, the USS Cole, others.

Perhaps this horror in Paris is the last straw and the world will come together to stop it...like we did in WWII.  These evil, barbaric, murderous people and their quiet, smiling, sycophantic sympathizers are the enemy.

It is almost impossible to talk in depth on this subject on this forum because it cannot be discussed properly without discussing the religious and political factors.
