From NationalToday.com
National Re-Gifting Day is celebrated on the third Thursday of December of every year. This year, it takes place on December 15. It aims to encourage the practice of re-gifting across the United States. Re-gifting refers to the act of taking a gift and giving it to someone else, often under the guise of a new gift. National Re-Gifting Day originally started off as an office holiday during the holiday season wherein co-workers would often re-gift gifts that they received and don’t really want. Re-gifting, barring a few conditions, can be a very efficient way of repurposing unused items.
Have you ever re-gifted anything? I've never re-gifted but I have received a gift from a family member and a year later they asked for it back but not because of any issues between us but stated they needed to use it (a purse) but it was never returned to me. Oh well ! I never bought it up again.

I don't ever remember re-gifting, as in wrapping up and giving away to someone else, but I do remember receiving a gift I wasn't so fond of and did not put away as quickly as my other gifts. A family member visited, saw the gift, and went on and on about it, so it went home with her.

Yes, but the recipients are aware of it. It's actually more as a fun thing. I just retired from working years in the school district. I received so many gifts and many more novelty items. I have games on Christmas Eve so the prizes would be these gifts I received. Some were actually pretty nice but I had no need for it. It's fun giving as prizes and I think when you "win" something it's much more exciting to receive.
My cousin still works at a K-12 school. She has an annual Gingerbread Decorating party, this Saturday actually. Being a private school she receives about 3X more than I did. Guess what? She has a raffle and the entire family goes home with something, there's about 30+ of us. She gets A LOT.

There was another thread about regifting today.
Everyday is a "national" something day, I'm sorry but it gets old.

I'm fine with regifting either way as long as it's something the recipient might like not just to get rid of it.

We/Someone around here needs to remember December 15 - BEFORE December 15th so those who chose to participate will have ample time to prepare.
This sounds like a fun Holiday.

Shouldn't Re-Gifting Day be after the Holiday? Or is it to remind us to re-gift this year the white elephants we received last year? Just wondering. Not that it matters.

I hate spending my time and money buying a gift for someone just to have it regifted. So I just stopped giving gifts.

I have never re-gifted something someone has given me. However, I have given an item as a gift of some jewelry that I purchased for myself but was not fond of and didn't want to bother to return. I don't think that counts as "re-gifting though." LOL.

I think regifting is just plain tacky. Period.
