Sometimes the harm is so egregious the best thing for you is to remove a person(s) from your life.

For your own mental health and peace of mind, it can be best to eliminate the toxicity.

@Mersha   Indeed.  Have done just that and turning my back has been very healthy since a burden was lifted.

@Malcontent    As a first generation Italian and having witnessed first hand that attitude, I must say it is not one to be proud of especially given the history of some folks.

Re: Today is National Forgiveness and Happiness Day

Sometimes (not always) forgiveness benefits ourselves more than it benefits the perpetrator.

Imo, It's much easier for me to forgive and forget than it is to hold an ongoing grudge.

Holding a grudge takes away my usual easy going, positive energy.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

@Goodie2shoes ... l have heard that. I have forgiven most of the people but for those couple of people who actually changed the course of my life for the worse...I cannot forgive. I have tried but unfortunately I can't.

Re: Today is National Forgiveness and Happiness Day

My faith requires me to forgive.  It is sometimes very hard, so I have to ask for help and guidance.  But I try.

It is sobering that this day is coincident with so much going on in the world today.  It is a good day to remember and contemplate.

Re: Today is National Forgiveness and Happiness Day

EVERY DAY should be a day of forgiveness and a day of happiness.  It starts in the soul.

Time is just a drop in the bucket compared to eternity. It isn’t how long you live that matters; it is how well you are prepared to die. ~~Colonel Robert B. Thieme, Jr.
