People say they're vegetarian if they pick the meat out of something. LOL

Most little kids are not vegetarians unless their parents are.

My neighbor has a kid who is a vegetarian and they are big meat eaters.

Not that he's typical.

My youngest doesn't like meat. She never really did.

Out of all their friends, maybe 1 or 2 has declared they are a vegetarian.

But most little kids who don't eat meat just don't like meat.

That makes sense as I doubt most little kids would really understand what being a vegetarian means.

I would agree with this statement. There are adults who also think being vegetarian just means they don't eat meat.

I've known a few people who said they were vegetarians but they eat chicken and fish.

My mom had bad gout and did not eat red meat but would eat poultry. However, she did not say she was a vegetarian. She just said I don't eat red meat.

my daughter has a friend who doesn't eat meat because she says it's bad. So, she'll order a gourmet 3- cheese grilled cheese, onion rings and fries. {#emotions_dlg.blink} shoulda just had the meat.

I don't think this is funny at all, and would have hated it.

Is this for real?

I don't think so.

Does anyone know what grade this is supposed to be?

Dear Joselyn33, how quickly they turn on ya!

I see nothing wrong with your class project.

I look at this as a cute creative writing activity; both of my girls did this in elementary school. I don't see a reason to overthink this, or blow it out of proportion above the holiday writing project it was intended to be. That said, I grew up on a farm where we raised animals as our food source. We were not allowed to name the animals or treat them as pets. It never bothered me to be around the slaughtering activities, or to eat the animals.

Oh for Pete's Sake.... These are little guys and none of you have any idea what led up to the little essays or what followed them. Vegetarians? In my 30+ years of teaching I never had a single one in my classroom. In fact, I never heard any teacher say there was one in their room. I know one in real life and it has nothing to do with the usual reasons: she does it for health reasons and would love to have a steak or burger every now and then.

Lighten up folks.

I agree! I think they are responding to the poster and not the content...
