Today Would Have Been My Mom's Birthday

She passed away 12 years ago, but I still miss her.  Most of the days are OK, but holidays and birthdays still are difficult.  She had Alzheimer's disease but passed away from colon cancer.  Her birthday, her passing, and Mother's Day are all so close together that this is a difficult time of the year.

I'll call my sister (my brother passed away three years ago) and we'll reminisce about the good times we shared with Mom and that will help a lot.

I know many others on these boards have lost loved ones, and I understand your pain.  The "Hallmark Holidays" ............well, let's just say be thankful if you have loved ones to share those days with and may you have wonderful moments that will be wonderful memories.

Re: Today Would Have Been My Mom's Birthday

@wismiss so sorry to hear that.  My mom died 5 years ago after Valentine's Day.  But my dad will be 93 the day before Mother's Day so we'll be celebrating.  I'm so sorry you find this time of year so difficult.

Re: Today Would Have Been My Mom's Birthday

Today is still her Birthday.  Today she is still with you.  She is celebrating the love you feel and she is happy, safe, and free of pain.  That is a blessing for her.  You are a blessing to her.

Your heart will always miss her, but she is always there.  Cherish that.

Wishing you and your sister a lovely, thoughful and relaxing day.  Enjoy the memories.  Feel the love.

Happy Heavenly Birthday, Mom.

Re: Today Would Have Been My Mom's Birthday

@wismiss. I know how you feel. My mom passed away in her mid-90s a few years ago and this past January would have been her 100th birthday which we had been hoping she would make it to.
That was a hard day. Sorry for your loss too.

@wismiss   I do understand it's difficult....walking passed Mother's Day cards "For Mom" & birthday cards are difficult. Take some solace knowing she's in a better place. I have always believed parents "stay" with us forever. It brings me some peace.

Re: Today Would Have Been My Mom's Birthday

This is the first year where the last few days of my Mom's life are falling on the actual day.  Mothers Day on May 10th, Mom going into hospice facility May 11th and going onto her home above on May 13th.  I was just thinking of the timeline last night.  I have been spending time these weeks pulling out pictures of her from her baby days to right before she passed.
