So sudden! I'm so sorry to hear this about your furbaby Charlie. When it's time, it's time. You will always carry Charlie with you in your heart.

I think that was his way of saying, "Thank-you. You did, and I love you too."

I wasn't expecting anything positive. My gut was telling me to expect bad news.

The vet came back in after she read the x-rays and saw his blood results, and she told me that his red blood cell count was at 16%, when normal is 40%, plus she saw a large mass by his liver, and one upper lobe of his lung had collasped.

She told me that Charlie had cancer.

My heart broke as I knew what I had to do.

I had to do what was best for Charlie.

Tearfully, I told her that the best thing to do was to end his suffering, to let him go and to cross over to Rainbow Bridge.

She agreed with me.

I stayed with Charlie through out the procedure.

I held him in my arms, and petted him, and whispered in to his ear, "I love you Charlie. I love you Charlie. I love you Charlie."

He was purring right up to the end.

Goodbye, Charlie.

I will always love and miss you.

You were a great cat.

OMG what a beautiful kitty! I had to do the same for my little MinPin Emmy...she seemed to know when we got to the vet that he would take care of her. She was sick too. I left her favorite throw to wrap her in knowing she would soon be at rainbow bridge...she was 8. One day we will see all of our beloved pets..and we'll all be together! Sending LOVE and HUGS to you Charlie's Mom!!!!!!

I am so sorry for your loss. Thank you for being a good Mama and releasing him from pain. You are brave.

I thought I was going to lose one of my doggies this past weekend. I had to take her to the emergency vet and she was in the hospital for two days. She is home now and I am truly grateful. I can't imagine losing her, but I prepared myself. We had a close call.

I had tears in my eyes while reading your post and I am very sorry for your loss. Having had cats and going through this difficult time I relate and understand as I am sure all the posters do.

Each loss of a pet is never easier, it is always filled with grief because we love our pets and all they provide in our lives.

May you get through this time of sadness and have peace of mind.

Clearly the two of you love one another deeply that will never stop. He gave you a wonderful gift, staying with you as long as he was able, and you returned his gift letting him go with love and dignity. So glad you held him, I know was so grateful you were with him.

Sadly, in my experience, there is nothing immediate that will lessen pain. One day you will wake up and realize that while your still heart aches, the bright memories of the love you shared have given you comfort.

I believe with all my heart that you and Charlie will be together again. Please find Peace in that knowledge.
