I was so saddened by this news today.  I knew he'd been really ill, but I'd hoped he might have been able to beat it.  Thoughts and prayers to his family and friends.

Loss of a great Oklahoman and Sooner for us.  Nice guy, always happy to chat when with folks when you'd run into him somewhere, nothing celebrity super-star about this man.  He will be missed.

I also heard this sad news on my country music station morning news.

His booming voice will never be silenced !

I was shocked to hear this today. I've loved him and his music and videos for decades. I'm really so sad to hear this and I don't usually get sad about a celebrity who dies. How Do You Like Me Now and I Shoulda Been A Cowboy are my 2 favorite videos and watch them often on you tube. I'm so sorry for his family.

Toby Keith was an awesome singer. I truly loved him and his music.

I was lucky enough to meet Toby twice and I will hold those meetings and memories dear to my heart.

Not only did Toby have a nice voice but the lyrics of many of his songs were so clever.   He will be greatly missed.  He was my favorite contemporary C&W singer.

Professionally he was always proudest of his songwriting.

I'm so very sad about this one... I've loved his music since he appeared on the country scene in the 90's.

SO many great songs...be they sentimental, sassy, sarcastic, romantic, or fiercely patriotic...always written smartly, with humor and heart, and sung with that beautiful rich voice.

So many tributes coming in on social media...Brooks and Dunn wrote a good one on Instagram. 

Dang...in a video not long ago he was thin but still sounding energetic and optimistic...was "going down to Florida to try a new treatment." Ugh. Everything to live for, and much too young. This d**mn blight on us, has taken too many, too soon.
