Re: Tired of buy one get one 50%

That to me is not a "deal".  Plus, I rarely need 2 of anything from Kohls.  And yes, I've noticed the prices are adjusted to a higher price (sometimes).

What I hate is the BOGO they offer at the PUBLIX supermarkets every week -- they think consumers don't realize they are "doubling" or 1/2 the first price of the items original price.

For instance:

BallPark hotdogs BOGO:  Buy 1 for $5.29 and get 2nd free.  That's no deal - in other stores the same package is $2.98!

Hellman's Mayo:  BOGO:  Buy 1 for $5.72 and get 2nd free.

It is $3.88 or LESS at other stores.

I don't fall for those so called deals anymore!

Re: Tired of buy one get one 50%

This really irks me too, although I guess I did okay today at Kohl's. I had the $10 Kohl's Cash and I needed a couple of new bras - one at regular price and the second one 50% off, plus the Kohl's Cash, but It's still just a ploy to get people to spend a little more. I was at Walgreen's yesterday and saw the same thing - buy one at the regular price and get 50% off a 2nd product. I don't have tons of storage in my townhouse so I really don't have room for buying an extra of anything at Walgreen's. I buy what I need and don't have the storage to stock up like some folks do. Just put the item on sale at 25% off and I'll gladly buy the one item if I need it! Having the extra $10 off at Kohl's made it worth it for me though for some new bras that I needed.

I was looking around at Kohls this afternoon, everything was buy one get 50% off.  But it seemed to me the first item was priced doubly so that 50% didnt mean anything.  Besides that I didn't need two pair of jeans or two bras.  Just getting tired of gimmicks.  Thanks for letting me vent.

@MoJoV  Didn't the courts (in CA) decide that Kohl's was deceptive about pricing-that items were bumped up in price for sales such as buy one get one 50%?  I thought the court ruled they were fined some million $ figure.

Along this line of convo, QVC sells many items in packages of two in order to make more money on a sale where one of the two is all that is actually wanted or needed.Woman Frustrated

With Walgreens I would say it’s a little different. They don’t raise the price by 3x when they do that deal.  That vasexmy Mom got at kohls she could of gotten two for $60. If she got two during the buy one it would of been over $100. Just ridiculous.

Some manufacturers will offer incentives to stores/corporations based on the volume of sales.  The more they sell the better it is for them.

To me, BOGO is only worthwhile when it's "Buy One, Get One FREE."

@MoJoV  Just put up a 25% off sign. I don’t want to have purchase 2 items to get the 25% off...It’s a good way for them to unload inventory, though, just not on me.

This has been a pet peeve of mine since way back in the day when I used to buy a lot at 9-West shoe outlet. Please don't make me have to look for a 2nd pair of shoes I don't need!  But lately...I really am tired of CVS, buy 1 get 50% off all through the store. Meanwhile, they send me a coupon to discount my entire purchase, 25-30% off, every week by email, to put onto my loyalty card.  But "sale" items, which all the buy1 get one 50% off qualify as, don't get discounted, so much of what I need doesn't qualify for the coupon and I don't need doubles.

I'm really tired of this gimmick too. I'm going to just start ignoring it all soon and just go buy what I need wherever. The energy spent trying to get the best prices can be time consuming, and way too complicated. Not sure when all is said and done if we really get true discounts on much.

I also worked briefly p/t at an outlet LOFT years ago, and omg...those coupons & discounts (wasn't just LOFT, but all the stores there) were SO complicated, it drove people and us nuts trying to satisfy every angle for the customer as well as coding them all differently in the register!  Just give us a dang sale.

@amyb  OMG, don’t get me going on The Loft...buy 2 sweaters and get 3rd for 25% off, but only on sale merchandise when no further discounts have been taken....ya da ya da ya da!!! 😳

Re: Tired of buy one get one 50%

I find that all regular prices at Kohls are double what they really should be.  That's why they push the ability to get 30% off with the Kohl's card or sales indicating prices are 50% off and of course giving you Kohls cash for spending money there.  Its only then that the items are priced reasonabily.  I stopped shopping at Kohls even though it is the only clothing retailer in my town.
