It doesn't cost anything, you just have to register, and then whenever a delivery is due, you get an email the day before to let you know it will be that day. They then follow up with a more specific delivery time (again by email).
I got an email last night to let me know my Amazon order will be arriving today; this morning they narrowed it down to between 10.45am and 2.45pm. Having that narrower window is much better than staying in all day, only for them to deliver at 6pm.
i have had my UPS account for a couple of years now and i love the texts that let me know that something was delivered. i also have the Slice app on my iphone and it tells me when something has been delivered also with other carriers.

For me, the problems don't seem to have anything to do with the overall company. It's the individual who works the route that makes the difference. I see that first hand because I live my life in 2 different place.
Where I am now, my USPS person gives outstanding service with a smile, my UPS person pretty much the opposite.
Where I am in the summer, my USPS person is beyond horrific - which also means any mail I need forwarded also suffers. Love my UPS driver there.

I also think substitute drivers are the problem most of the time. One of them swore they left a package at our garage. The garage and the front door are just a few steps away from each other.
Three days later the supervisor came by and apologized because the driver left it three doors down at someone's house. Yes they lie or maybe I should say make mistakes, but when they say they left it at the garage we know that is a lie. This has happened at least three times. We work from home and our dog notifies us when UPS, FEDEX and USPS are here.

Along other problems, they didn't deliver a package to me on my "guaranteed delivery date" because (according to them ) the address didn't include an apartment number. I don't live in an apartment, and there aren't even any apartments in my entire neighborhood.
Then, I can't help but think it is a very GOOD thing that they didn't deliver it! (They were obviously in the wrong neighborhood)
I haven't had many probs with UPS over the many years, but when I HAVE -, it is usually because my "regular" driver is out that day-

Unless the sender designates that the package has to be signed for, there is no rule against leaving the package on a porch, etc. They also don't work until their truck is empty. That isn't always possible. If a package must be signed for and the receiver isn't home, they leave a form on the door and take the package back with them.
I really am not a UPS fan and I request things come to me via USPS if they can. Every package I ever get from UPS looks like they ran it over with the truck before they set it on my porch. Packages/boxes are filthy, broken open, holes in the box, etc.
My UPS driver also isn't careful about paying attention to what street he is on delivering packages. In my development, all the streets have the same house numbers on each one. Many times the driver delivers my packages to a street behind me with the same house number and I get their packages. We used to just deliver them ourselves and then decided UPS needed to be notified so they knew this was happening and the driver would be more careful. They scan in that the package was delivered and left on the porch (or wherever they leave it) and that might be the case but it doesn't mean they left it at the right house.
* It may depend on where you live. They do here.

Yes, that's true...this was during the holidays, when they might have had some seasonal workers...that I can understand. It just really rubbed me the wrong way, when they decided I was the one to blame, for not giving the correct address info.
We used to always have the same delivery guy. I work at home, so see who delivers the packages. I seldom ever see the same guy twice now. No wonder they don't get to know their routes well. I also always now get packages for the people next door. Then I have to deliver them myself when I get a break in my work.

I signed up for UPS Choice. It was around $40, BUT it gives me piece of mind.
I'm on the road a lot and may have packages being delivered that I don't want out in the weather/temps. So I can have them take it to their local UPS store and hold it for me till I get back.
Or if it's something I need to sign for but don't want to hang around the house, I can authorize them to leave it without the signature.
If something is set to be delivered, but I have homes in other states, I can have it re-routed to where I'm going to be.
Also, simple things like having them put it on the back door, leave with a neighbor, etc.
Plus they email me you delivery ALERT to give you a heads up if you need to ship it somewhere else or just to be looking for it. And also a delivery confirmation.
It really takes the hassle/worry about your UPS deliveries.

I signed up a long time ago. UPS always delivers end of day. To get something quicker requires choosing either the red or blue label thru Qvc. UPS has many shipping options that Qvc simply doesn't offer. So basically signing up for MY UPS was absolutely worthless and a waste of my time. If the shipping cost is just a couple dollars extra I don't mind paying for an earlier delivery...not only will it arrive earlier but also will not be delivered at end of day. Did you know that if they are late they automatically refund the money back to the shipper? This is for the red label. I wonder if Qvc in turn, refunds the customer. I had a long chat with a UPS representative the other night. The fact of the matter is when my shipments arrive into town they are not placed onto a brown truck the same day and delivered like Fed Ex and USPS so diligently does......so I will choose them every opportunity I get. I can't tell you how many times my things arrived early in the morning on a Friday via UPS yet were delivered on a Monday. I never signed up for that nonsense! People put up with it but I have no idea why.
