If they aren't after sugar, what do they want??? They totally ignored Terro.

They might also be looking for water.

@Judaline   I cannot answer your question but wow...I have NEVER had a failed attempt using TERRO.  I use the liquid, put a drop on a piece of paper (in several locations) on my kitchen countertop and with in a few hours the paper is covered with ants, and they take it back to their nest.

Usually within 24-36 hours my ant problem is gone.  Occasionally I have to treat more than 1 time during the early spring.

Check your kitchen cabinets....and look for boxes of cereal, cake mix, dry soup mix, etc., for holes and any other kind of damage.    FOLLOW THE ANT TRAIL to see where they are going.

Are you sure they're ants and not swarmers?

There are also GREASE ANTS that go after protein

They could be 'grease' ants.  They don't go for sugar but rather protein

 Find out which kind of ant is in the house by conducting a test. Place a tablespoon of honey and another tablespoon of peanut butter in the area where the trail of ants is. If the ants prefer the honey, then you’re dealing with sugar ants. If the ants flock over the tablespoon with butter, then the culprit is grease ants.

There are different bait traps for different ants.  Best bet is to determine which ants you have.

Have had a problem with tiny ants in my Bathrooms...WHY???  Is it dampness when I get out of the shower???  Got rid of them with Raid Ant Traps & spray.  However in the front of our home I had larger Ants coming in front outside thru a crack in my Window Sill.  Caulked the Sill but once they get in forget it.  Finally called an exterminator & he sprayed around the Windows & the entire Perimiter of the house.  No more Ants.  Thank God they never got in my Kitchen.  Disgusting.  FYI: Per exterminator,  after you spray inside & the Ants die, DO NOT touch them for at least 48 hrs. I cleaned up too soon & they came back.

@Judaline

Have you recently been in a drought and are you expecting a rain?  Ants know when to seek higher ground to prevent drowning in a flood and they will come inside and crawl up the walls.  They also will come inside for sugar and sugary products.  They further will come in hunting water.  It depends where you find them why they are there.
