People really have no excuse to drive under the influence now that they can get an Uber ride home.

If this man has had 2 prior drunk driving arrests, he's most likely an alcoholic. The fact that this is his 3rd time being caught driving drunk tells me he is consistently driving drunk. Most people don't get caught drinking and driving the first time they do it- but eventually their luck runs out.
This man has a problem that doesn't work itself out- you either die, go insane or go to prison if you don't get help for alcoholism. Looks like this man's fate is the latter. Too bad others had to be impacted.

I think it is time to get tough with DUIs. First DUI, no excuses your license is taken away for at least a year. Kill somebody, go to jail for multiple years, Just fed up with seeing these tragedies

Can someone unpack this one for me?
How can a car be speeding in Times Square?
I always thought traffic was so grid-locked,
it moved at a snail's pace.

My husband and I decided to avoid Times Square a long time ago. When we shop, we stay more local.
It seems this was involving a driver who had 2 previous DUI/DWI. I'm not sure what the laws are, but I hope he didn't have a license otherwise there is something terribly wrong with the system.
I was almost in tears when I heard about this. 9/11 traumatized me when I saw the towers burning while riding on the 7 train. The ensuing aftermath and chaos is still fresh on my mind. I haven't been able to go to the 9/11 Memorial.
I am saddened for those injured and the young woman who died. I just hope this was not terrorism. I think New Yorkers would agree that we've been through enough.

This is the young woman who was killed:

Maybe two years ago, a CA woman was driving drunk, hit another car and killed a three year old child. She is married to a deputy... deputy what, they didn't say.
NOTHING HAPPENED TO HER
She was recently found passed out drunk on a public street and I believe there may have been another accident.
There is something wrong with a system that allows drunk drivers back on the road.

I just read a story particularly about the men who grabbed the driver and held him until the cops came. The one they spoke with said the driver didn't appear drunk and he didn't smell alcohol on the driver's breath.
Guess there are conflicting stories so rather than jump to the conclusion he was drunk, I'll wait for toxicology reports since he was immediately tested for drugs and alcohol.

@SahmIam .... the news just said he was not drunk .... he was high on drugs .... he should be beaten until he begs them to stop!!!!! .... to think a young woman lost her life because of him & he is still alive ..... I hope Karma comes for him soon!!!

When I first heard the news, I thought uh-oh I wonder if an older driver mistook the brake for the gas again.
A few years ago I read about a steering wheel that could detect alcohol levels of a driver -- never came about as far as I know.
