Re: Time to deal with the yard. 😬

@monicakm.  It takes me most of my time just getting ready for garbage day.  All those boxes that must be flatten, they will be the death of me.

I've done this all alone for years and years.

How is your dh doing?

Re: Time to deal with the yard. 😬

He's doing better @Kachina624 , thank you.

I just got off the phone with him.  He's still on meds that are giving him grandious ideas.  He still hasn't been told when he will be released.  It's the A-Fib that is causing them to delay his leaving.  Drs are talking about shocking him again Smiley Sad  I think his condition is still somewhat guarded.

Re: Time to deal with the yard. 😬

I hear ya @QVCkitty1

The home/house I last lived at, I would hook my  Cane on the arm of the big City Trash Bin, say a prayer, and try to oh-so-slowly steady myself by the weight of the City Trash Bin, as I  s-l-o-w-l-y  pushed forward - (at least until the wheels hit one or more of those dastardly pine cones)!  Woman Frustrated

I liked working outside, in the fresh cool air, raking, sorta trimming bushes.  It's just that my body didnt appreciate it!   Woman Frustrated

 Prayers & Good Luck, @QVCkitty1

@JoyFilled Warrior

I wish my mind and body would get on the same page.  I had to wheel the trash can out to the road today.  It was going good till I stepped on a sharp twig...ouch!  Then on the way back, I had nothing to hold on to.  It's about 30 yds to/from the street.  What was I thinking??  I'll have to figure out a new plan next week.

Re: Time to deal with the yard. 😬

@monicakm  & others

I've had a Four Legged Collapsible Stool & Cane for awhile now that I've found super duper helpful.

(If you want I can post a pic/info here).

      It's VERY sturdy, & has an open hook handle that's helpful for hooking on to things, & just putting it out of the way. (or hooking a purse, or keys on the handle)

      DO *NOT* GET THE 3 LEGGED Stool/Cane!

For a long time I had a 3-legged collapsible Stool/Cane, but it spilled right out from under me, yrs later - awful injuries.     Ditched that dangerous 3-legged thing.

  This kind of 4 legged cane/stool has been very, very important in helping me get around, both inside & out. In fact, down right necessary to keep me safe, & any kind of ambulatory.

A Walker is inevitable, but takes sooo much floor space to get around in the house, &, I'd have to move out some furniture.

      Did A LOT of research, & had one on order on Amz Prime day, but order got botched, so, back to the drawing board.

Re: Time to deal with the yard. 😬

we have a local lawncare company. they are great. he used to be our mailman for many years and then retired to open his own lawncare business. we were one of his first customers. they do our grass cutting, planting, trimming, edging, mulching and whatever else is needed. they also do our snow removal when needed.

they began the "spring cleanup" last week because overall, the weather has been beautiful here......50s and 60s.

Re: Time to deal with the yard. 😬

Not for me this year or anymore

Downsized in November and it couldn't have been more of

a blessing

Taking care of an acre was too much for me

I'm soooo relieved

Re: Time to deal with the yard. 😬

@monicakm   I get that to be sure he stays healthy. My DH just never has time to do yard stuff and that's another reason we don't need this big house/yard maintainence at this stage of our lives.
