Re: Time to deal with the yard. 😬

@QVCkitty1 , I was thinking the same thing when I looked at my yard. The City picked up all the branches from January's ice storm but I still need to rake some. And I believe every leaf that was on the ground in all of my neighbor's yards are now in mine. LOL...

Re: Time to deal with the yard. 😬

This last month had wind that brought down more large branches than I have ever seen on my property.  Guess the trees are getting old along with me.  Only damage was for fencing when they sailed through the air.  This summer I will have the grandkids saw them up.

We had 35 mph wind all day yesterday and last night, with gusts up to 45.  It was just awful.  It blew over a big patio table with an umbrella (rolled up and tied with the strap, not put up) over.

Ruined the umbrella which was in a heavy stand but I think the table is ok.

@Sooner.  We had 50-60 mph winds the last two days which was knocking over peoples' very large filled garbage cans.  Today is my day and thankfully it's calm before starting again tomorrow.(

@QVCkitty1. Like you I struggle with those big, heavy cans, with one bad knee and sciatica in the other leg but I roll only on cement.

I, too, refuse to ask for help.  The driver will get the can if we submit a doctor's statement, but Waste Management is so screwed up, I figure they'd forget most of the time.

OMG...I can feel your pain.    My driveway is on an incline which sometimes makes matters worse.

AND there have been several times when WM drops the container on its side...and it's a struggle to right the %#@& thing.  di

@Desertdi  That has happened to me and it is a PITA.

@QVCkitty1@Desertdi. I've had them drop the can into the truck.  Then you're left wondering if someone stole your precious garbage.  So you wait a week, living with your garbage and they eventually bring you a new one.

Now that DH is retired, I asked him if we were going to keep our yardman or was he going to take care of it.  He hadn't made up his mind yet but I know we will at least start out with our yardman in light of DH's current state.  The front beds are in need of a refresh this year too.

Dallas had 70mph winds yesterday.  I was guessing 60 here and we usually have a little less mph so I'm sure it was 60+.  We have some damage but nothing horrible (that I've spotted).  In the 44 years we've been in this house, I don't recall ever having those kinds of winds.  I had to let the dogs out 3 times during all of that and it was a challenge to stay upright Smiley Surprised

My den is full of leaves a few feet in the den doors.  It's facing north and each time I took the dogs out, leaves blew in.

Hubby took the trash out to the road before he left for the hospital.  I've rolled it back twice and today will be the 2nd time to roll it out to the road.  And tonight I need to gather the house trashcans.  I wouldn't mind asking for help but I don't have close neighbors.
