I found Boulder Clean a product made with thymol at Costco -- three spray bottles for $9.99.  It doesn't smell as bad as Joy's (I ordered that and returned it).  It's made in Boulder Colorado.

plain old soap and water, Clorox, alcohol, lysol, etc will work. Physician in our family says just keep cleaning stuff....and don't use a sponge or rag...use paper towel or wipe and toss it. Doorknobs, steering wheels, refrigerator handles, everything that is touched repeatedly during the course of the day.

@lovesrecess, I'm wondering what the difference is between using a paper towel and tossing it and using a cloth like microfiber and tossing it in the laundry basket. Or even using a sponge that you then rinse out and maybe microwave it or put it in the dishwasher on a regular basis

@SeaMaiden   This does not contain Thymol-other SG products do.

@goldensrbest Thymol epa reg.84683-1 and -5 are the numbers to look for.

Seventh Generation wipes and sprays contain .05% thymol.

I think that this is what I got from Aldi's too, one of the last times that I was there.

They were just selling it in single bottles for $3.99.

I was curious to try it, since other disinfecting products can be rather harsh.

@camelot   A lot of the disinfectants are very toxic...Thymol is SAFE. That is important information to share.

 Thanks for mentioning this, too.

Some of us like to try the more natural products that are out there, if we can.

I like to do this because I also have a cat.

I like to try and use natural products around here that won't be so toxic to her either, as well as us.

@Toppers3   I was just going to post the same thing about Aldi's and the Boulder cleaner.  IMHO it works well and doesn't smell badly.  I am going to check Costco to see if I can get it there for less. I have only seen Meyers brand, but that isn't the same.

I still have some of the Joy Mangano cleaners.  I loved them as they clean and disinfect well.  In addition, the cloths and sponges are great.

@Toppers3 What does it smell like?

Hi @Porcelain ,

I was already familiar with the scent because in the past, one of our kitties at the time was using a natural medication from our Vet's office that had Thymol in it to help keep him from biting on himself.

It was fragrant enough as to where you could smell the Thymol in the cream product.

It was supposed to be deliberately unpleasant-tasting but not harmful to him, so that whenever he would taste it on his fur--wherever it was applied--he would not want to bite or lick there on those areas.

The best way to describe it is that it has a natural herbal scent to it.

It reminds me of a medicinal smell too, probably because as someone else mentioned, it's used in Vick's Vapor Rub.

I grow thyme in my flower garden, so if it smells someting like that, i like herbal scents.
