I do not think it is important enough to start a thread about it.

@goldensrbest

I think most of us here can say that about a lot of threads, but I personally wouldn't.

If no one else, the thread is important to the one who posted it and I just wouldn't disregard someone else's opinion or feelings.

I'm guessing how you feel about all caps is based on what we first learned about internet communication. I, too, was taught that all caps signaled yelling and would only be used for emphasis, to illustrate strong emotion, etc.

For a thread to be started with an all caps title would mean to me that the poster was either super excited OR wanted everyone to look right away at that post. Based on some of the replies many of you were taught to type titles in all caps in school....I wasn't. It makes sense though that all of us wouldn't be taught the exact same thing.

Re: Thread TItles in CAPS

I think this internet rule is silly.  I never saw an Internet Professor correct anyone, but sure do see the Caps Police come out in droves reminding everyone it's against internet law to use all caps.

Who decided this rule and who gave them permission to establish such a rule?  Well, no one, really.  Someone of no real importance merely said he thought using all caps signified anger and was rude.  His opinion!

As many things do, it caught on.  Everyone began reprimanding everyone else for using caps.

Well, I will continue using caps when I want to emphasize something.  As far as I'm concerned, it does not in any way mean shouting, anger, or rudeness.

@KingstonsMom   If the thread had been about just a question, that would have been one thing.

Yet the OP had to take it a step beyond by saying it is rude.

One can disagree about titles in CAPS; it is quite another to say that posters who do so are looking for attention and are being rude to everyone else.

@Cakers3

I was only speaking about saying that some threads are not worth posting, not this thread or subject in particular.

Sorry if I wasn't clear in my post.

They do it because they want to.  If you are allergic to capital letters, just skip by those posts.

Amen, sister.    And as for "internet etiquette," talk about a contradiction in terms.   Everyone is so rude and full of themselves, but all caps sends them into a tailspin.
