How do you handle, posting on a continuing thread, when someone on that thread is a poison pill?

You know, the sort of person who never initiates anything negative, but just happens to be there when the slam goes down on you, and is always applauding the stuff that makes you miserable?

Understand, everybody on the thread may know this about the person, but we can't say it. And that's good. But how to handle it? Ignore the posts? Make a casual comment? What to do to maintain yourself? I'd appreciate answers from people in this situation, not people who cause this situation. And, anybody can know by your words, if you've been through this.
