We found a great deal at a Kay Jeweler outlet, but I just couldn't bring myself to trade in my rings. I am too darn sentimental.
I'm still considering trading in, as my husband is perfectly fine with it, and has even tried to talk me into doing so.
I'm just curious what your thoughts are on upgrading your wedding rings. Have you done so or would you? Or are you too sentimental.
If you trade them in for something else you won't get much value. So I vote for just keeping them. Get a ring that fits you if want to wear a wedding ring.
FWIW after 30+ years of being married I don't need a ring I told my daughter she can have my band

Why trade them in? Just buy another set .... or a nice gold band. Even Diamonique has some gold pieces.

I could never part with my rings, though many people do upgrade theirs. Several years ago my diamond setting on my engagement ring came off and by the grace of God we found the diamond in the grass because the sun was sparkling on it. So I had it reset and DH bought one with stones down the shoulder of the band.I know my 1/2 carat diamond is not at all what is stylish these days but it was DH's mother's and she gave it to me so it is more precious sentimentally than any 5 carat ring. I also have a tiffany bridge ring that my grandfather made for my grandmother for their 50th. (yes, he was a jewelry designer) and it has large expensive stones in it - so much so that I do not feel comfortable wearing it and in the end - I keep it in our safety deposit box. Anyway, if you are not sentimentally attached to your rings - and neither is your husband - go for it. I would take them to church for a blessing though.

If I had my original wedding band, I would never change it; but I lost it in a move 25 years ago. So, we had our jeweler redesign my set. It is a stack.
It has a gold skinny guard, the diamond eternity band, the remade engagement that is a band with four 3/4 carat solitaires across, then another diamond eternity band and the skinny gold band. It's a lovely set.
I love the four real diamonds, not three cubic zircona which so many people bought when it was a Diamonique fad. My original set was white gold, now it's yellow gold.
We will celebrate 50 years married in June, and the rings didn't contribute to that. Just pure love.

You can always keep your sentimental rings close by wearing them on a chain around your neck!!

I'm trying to downgrade because the diamond fell out of my ring, so I'd like to get a gold band rather than replace the diamond. I've tried two Eternagold rings, nice rings but not perfect.
I could probably wear smaller than a 5 but need to get a 5 to go over the knuckle. Then the ring looks too loose on my finger and doesn't sit right.

My original wedding ring had a filigree band. Through the years of wear the filigree began to crack in spots. It wasn't really repairable so about 20 years ago I got a new ring. But I kept my original diamond, couldn't part with that, even though they offered me a lot to trade it in. I kept my original diamond and had it placed in my new band. Its beautiful.

I'm not attached to my wedding set. I'm attached to my husband - LOL
Why not get a DMQ ring or something else that you like.
If you are that attached to your wedding set, you shouldn't upgrade.

I had 3 rings resized a few years ago - wedding, engagement and anniversary, which I wear all together. It was almost $500! But no where near the cost of a new set.

My husband surprised me with an upgrade wedding engagement ring on our 1st anniversary but I kept the original one and I still wear it on my right hand at times. My original engagement ring was 1/3 of a carat round and he gave me a 1 1/2 carat pear shape and on our 3rd anniversary he placed it in a half carat wrap. My plans are to place the 1/3 stone in our son's graduation ring from college.
