Re: Thoughts on tabloids at grocery checkouts

I check out covers of the rag mags when I'm in the checkout line. It gives me my laugh of the day.

In some stores here in Atlanta, they put plastic shields in front of magazine displays for the more "colorful" covers so that just the magazine title shows. Of course, anyone can reach behind the shield and take out a magazine if they want to look or buy -- but at least distasteful photos aren't in your face or your young children's faces.

Re: Thoughts on tabloids at grocery checkouts

Those tabloids do provide income to your store, and it trickles down to you, so I would say ignore it and focus on your job. The reason they put them up front is because gossip and trash sells, and it's not something the typical customer goes shopping for, but how many have grabbed one at the last minute in the checkout line because they are curious? Those sell for what now? $3.99-$6.99? Your store gets a portion of that revenue, so my suggestion would be to ignore the pics and keep enjoying the income.

Re: Thoughts on tabloids at grocery checkouts

The 'trashy' photo cover issues should be placed up high on the highest racks. I enjoy thumbing through them while in line. But, not so good for the youngsters. Top racks only! If I were the store manager, I'd probably place them on top every morning. Never mind what the rack designation is. (But, that's just me!)

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

Rags, waste of money.

Waste of trees, too.
ITA. I just caught some covers yesterday as I was checking out. I mean how long is Jen A. Going to be pregnant. She has the longest gestation running. That has passed the point of being stupid. I haven't looked inside one in years. It's all lies, I don't get what is entertaining.

We live in Mennonite country here in PA. The sleazy covers are covered with paper. It doesnt bother me but it bothers others. I don't buy these garbage papers and magazines (the ones that have fake stories).
