I have been reading a lot about this in the last few days. I have seen some studies on why it is considered a bad thing and why some consider it good. I have a lot more to read but I was wondering what everyones opinion of this and why you consider this bad or good? TIA!

from a dental standpoint it's the best way to protect teeth in children.....not their baby teeth but their adult teeth........topical applications are not as effective as the fluoride bonding to the enamel of the tooth bud as it forms.....and the most effective way for that to occur is when it's added to water.............body wise, I'm not so sure of yet...................................raven

I have been reading some crazy stuff concerning what this can do to our bodies but I really haven't read enough of what I consider to be good research that indicates this could be true. Just wondering if anyone has some info concerning some of the dangers that have been written about concerning fluoride.

One thing I know for sure is that most people nowadays have far better teeth than I remember them having when I was young. I don't remember exactly when fluoride started to be added, but it more or less coincides with most of my lifetime, so maybe there is a good connection.
I'm pro fluoride.

Not all water supplies have fluoride added to it; I used to live in NY where it is added.
I moved to NJ where it is not added.
I'm not sure which one is better.

Wow, one would certainly not know that from all of the toothpaste out there that contains it plus mouth washes. I personally do not like it in my drinking water and many countries have banned it.

Yes, I was reading that. The countries that did decide to ban putting it in the water have also seen a decline in cavities too, they think that it isn't necessary with the products we have on the market.. I have been surprised reading the noted doctors who really oppose this. I never really thought about it before but a lot of stuff I have been reading is surprising.

The natural water in my area contains minimal levels of fluoride so we add fluoride to the water at our treatment plants to reach the level recommended by the American Dental Association.
The Water Department's goal is to maintain a consistent level of 1 parts-per-million (mg/L) of fluoride in my city's drinking water at all times.
Some areas of the country have higher naturally occurring levels of fluoride than is even recommended by the ADA.

I'm against it. The reason for putting it in the water makes no sense since it is beneficial to a very small percent of the population and may be harmful to a large percentage. If parents want their child to have Fluoride for their teeth, they can get liquid vitamins with Fluoride included.
Fortunately, there is no Fluoride added to the water in my area, when it was considered people objected.
