Good to decide these things before your passing.
For me, I want my remains to be scattered where my husbands remains were scattered. It was a place where the two of us met, worked, married, lived, and were happiest.

@smoochy wrote:curious about your take on this. I will be cremated when I die. As the spouse of a military retiree, I'm entitled to a spot in a national cemetery which will be here in Florida. (Free) there is also an available plot in the cemetery in Michigan with my mom, my sister and my son. My mom and stepfather bought enough spaces for everyone. I am actually torn over this. Be with my hubby? Or with my family? I know that my daughter does NOT want an urn of my ashes and would prefer that my ashes are buried somewhere (if it were up to her). I also know that my earthly remains will merely be ashes- my soul will be elsewhere. Also, fwiw, when my daughter visits her home state of Michigan (she lives abroad), she usually visits our family gravesites. Once I'm gone she will have no reason to travel to Florida as her dad, his kids, and my grandson her nephew, all live in the same town in Michigan. My husband says he doesn't have any stong feelings one way or another, as our remains will simply be ashes.
Any input?
My grandparents lived in the beautiful Pocono Mountains and were buried there. My sisters live about a six-hour drive away, and I'm on the West Coast. I wonder if anyone ever visits their graves or what condition they are in.
This is one of the reasons that made me decide on cremation.

@smoochy I am happy to read you have settled this issue.
I thought both burials in Michigan would be ideal.
While I totally agree we are just deceased bodies and that our souls continue on a new path, it's still comforting to have plans in place.
Ceremonies and all are for the living left behind.
We do the best we can in life and hopefully leave behind memories of love and happiness.
Your husband sounds like a very reasonable person.
Blessings to you both.🙏

Gene Roddenberry, creator of Star Trek, wanted to have his ashes scattered in space.
He was granted permission, and when he passed, his ashes were scattered by one of our space shuttles.
I think that was the perfect ending for him ..... and would love that, too.
Being in space forever ... wow.
@Tinkrbl44 I Love that idea. The Shoekitty in perpituity
