The Canadian government has informed the United States that one shooter is dead in Ottawa, a senior U.S. official said. So far, there is "no indication the shooter has ties to violent Islamic extremism," but it is still extremely early in the investigation, the source said.

Thanks for this.

May God bless them.

What a twisted and cruel world this can be sometimes. What has gone wrong?

Would this not be considered work place violence?

Did the shooter/s work there?

Re: Thoughts and prayers for our Northern Friends

For the record...my immediate family is in Nova Scotia so they are not anywhere close to Ottawa, Ontario....but it still is shocking and scary for everyone across Canada. We are approaching Remembrance Day coming up on Nov 11th and to think a gunman did this at one of our war monuments is frightening.

I refuse to start with you and have this important thread deleted. You are lying about having a friend there. Most here know you and know that.

To all others, thank you for your kind words. This is terribly upsetting and everyone is shaken. Prayers please for our soldier and family.

Stop fighting. This is not the place for petty arguments, let it go.

Canada61 and any others that have family ties/are Canadian -- my thoughts are with you.

Yes it is and my friend that is in lock down at the parliament right now has a child that has to be picked up today so they have no idea when they get to leave. Crazy because I don't think the rest of the family is close by to pick up the child in Ottawa but surely she has a friend that can pick up her baby.

Pretty sure workplace violence is when co-workers perpetrate the violence on other co-workers.
