I just heard on TV that major soda companies are dropping the word "diet" from sodas. They said millenniums don't relate or like that name. So now it will either be zero or sugar free. I've drank diet sodas for more years than I can count and the word diet never bothered me. I don't know what the big deal is. I know some sodas already use the word Zero. What are your thoughts if you have any.?

I cannot drink diet soda or chew diet gum as it makes me sick to my stomach. Sugar is a natural food and though it may add calories it is safer than the artificial sweeteners. IMO

I guess Millennials don't ever go on diets? I don't believe that reasoning; someone probably complained about using the word "diet", so they're changing it so others don't feel "offended". Just a stupid marketing tactic.

@Leeny I do think the word "Diet" has a negative connotation with it today....I can see not using it as a more positive spin on low or no calorie products for the new generations.
I am from the " TAB"beverage era so I grew up with a lot of "Diet " this and that names on low calorie products.

As long as I can find what I want, I don't care. Hopefully, they don't have an issue with the shelf those items are on-or maybe that's next week!!!

I am SO over all the name changes, photo changes, etc. on products just because someone perceives something to be wrong.

I noticed this some time ago. It started with Coke Zero and the idea took off.
Personally, I don't care what it is called. It's not a big deal.
Many products have had their names changed such as pancake mixes and rice. At the end of the day, it is still the same thing.

It's not a bad idea. "Diet" has negative connotations for some, while "zero" is mostly positive, at least in the food context.

i can't drink any kind of coke, because I get acid reflux. In fact, I can no longer drink any cabinated beverage. I do like Coke and I miss it. When I was in my teens and could drink Diet Coke, I drank it a lot. I've switched to Snapple so it's easier on me. I haven't tasted any kine of Coke for years. I remember never drinking Tab though. And I understand that is going away. Have a feeling it didn't sell very well.

As long as they know what it is for my benefit I suppose it really makes no difference. I was out of "diet" drinks at home and ran down to the corner convenience store for a 16 oz. size. My sunglasses are prescription but not bifocals. I asked the clerk to make sure the drink said diet because I could not read that small print on that Mt. Dew green bottle. She got so tickled. Maybe a big huge 0 would be better for me than print.
