We couldn't even take movies has a kid where the mother animal was always dead. I can't watch any animal movies to this day and I resent them dragging this into our home when you can this enough of this in real life. I can't imagine how these commercials will haunt children that see them. I think animal abusers should be killed personally.
cyndog, I cannot agree with you more....if I were to watch these commericals I would be haunted also, would never get it off my mind, they just break my heart. I cant turn the channel fast enough , even if on the other side of the room I race to the TV as soon as that awful music starts and quickly while trying to not see if turn the channel. I do realize they are showing these commericals for those that are somehow unaware so that they will donate, I understand that, but I for one cannot watch or listen to them it is so very sad , and it actually hurts my heart to see an animal suffering. I used to also as a kid not be able to watch any movie that an animal died or anything happened to one. I used to cry when the cowboy and Indian movies my dad watched and the horse would get shot and fall down. I am hoping these commericals go away soon, it seems they are now on several different channels as well.

That is our animal charity also, Best Friends, they do such wonderful work there and they animals can stay there for there whole lives. We like the idea of supporting a No Kill shelter. Well this is not a shelter, it is a beautiful reserve in southern Utah , we would love to go there someday. Its truly wonderful that there is a place like this and people who dedicate there lives to working and caring for all the animals there....

Don't count on it. The ASPCA is notorious for using animals to raise funds, only to find a reason to kill the animal later. They did this with Oreo -- a rescued pit bull. She was highly publicized and later they killed her because they deemed her "unsociable". A local rescue BEGGED them to let them have her and work with her since the ASPCA wasn't willing to expend more resources on her. The ASPCA refused and killed her. It will be a cold day in the hot place before I give them one more dime of mine.

That is very sad to hear, I mean how can they advertise and say how much they care for and want to save animals and then just use them for money I find it disgusting. I am glad we give to a No Kill shelter only.

They have been called on their stance. It hasn't changed, but I sure changed mine towards them when I found out about it! Sadly, many of these organizations -- like the HSUS, the ASPCA and even Best Friends have BOATLOADS of money which go to humans in the organization -- and a HUGE advertising budget for ads such as this, but their pet policies are not so friendly and when shelter reforms are proposed, they pull out all the stops to prevent them from becoming law rather than getting behind them for the sake of the animals and increasing the lives saved. You are right. It IS disgusting!
