This is NOT a bash Walmart thread........

I love Walmart, Kmart, Steinmart, any "mart". I am an equal opportunity shopper. If this has been discussed before, forgive me. Two different incidents, two different stores.

I have been sick and in bed. Not able to eat anything for days. Yesterday I was starving and all of a sudden I wanted an orange. My son was at Walmart, so I texted him to pick me up a bag of oranges. When he brought them in to me, the first thing I noticed was, there was no

sweet orange aroma, but I have been sick and nothing taste right, so I didn't think much about it. When I opened them up I was struck by how small and hard they were. As I was peeling one I was thinking did we have really bad growing weather to make these little buggers so hard and thick skinned ? They smelled horrible, (but again, I have been sick, so I am thinking it's just me.) Well, when I got it peeled and began to eat it, it was juicy and fairly sweet, but it smelled horrible. I couldn't even finish it. I am still thinking it's me.

I brought the bag to work with me tonight to put them on the break table for my coworkers to eat, since I thought they would ruin before my taste buds are normal again. Well, as I am telling them about my experience and to help themselves, one person picked one up, smelled it and said "it does stink." She peeled it and said "this is horrible." As she is talking, I picked the bag up to see if there is an expiration date and what the heck ????? These oranges came from Africa. South Africa to be exact. I am not saying they stink and are horrible because they come from another country, I am saying they stink and are horrible AND they come from another country. I live in Georgia. You can't tell me that Walmart could not have brought me a sweet, juicy Florida orange cheaper than they imported this poor excuse for a piece of fruit ! This is a disgrace. What possible sense can this make, in any world ? What have we as a country done to ourselves, or more aptly, what have we let happen ? After that I was curious, so I checked a fruit cup I had also brought to eat, and yes, it is a product of Japan..... I guess the good old USA has no pears, peaches (again, I'm from GA the peach state), and cherries to make this fruit cup, they have to import them from Japan. This fruit cup came from Ingles grocery store.

How did this happen ? Why is this ok ? No wonder everyone is out of work and struggling. No, I haven't been under a rock, this just hit me in the face. A real awakening.

Sorry post was so long.
