You all who don't have AC may change your minds as the years roll on.  Every year will get hotter.  This isn't just a one-time thing.

Relatives of mine in the state of Washington, near the Canadian border, were complaining about how hot it was for them, 70-80 degrees. I thought that was nice weather until they wrote today to say it was 90 degrees and NO ONE up in that area puts air conditioning in their homes. Asked if they would now, and they said no, that it doesn't happen enough to spend that much money. They are used to 55-65 degrees.

They are only 10 minutes from the Pacific Ocean, so they drive over there to relax during the day, and then go back to the house later in the day.

@World Traveler  Well not NO ONE. My friend in Blaine, right on the border, has central  air conditioning.

In New York, July and August can be brutal with high 90s, 100 + temperatures and humidity to top it off.  You must have A.C.  For those who do not, or cannot afford it, we have "Cooling Stations" all over the city and other counties - usually senior centers, libraries, municipal buildings, etc.

Here in the Pacific NW we are expecting 106 degrees this weekend with a high of 110 Sunday!! That is absolutely unheard of here. We barely even hit 100 during the summer.  Last summer was perfect with highs in the upper 80's mostly with only a few days in the 90's and that's how hot it got.  I know some of you get heat like this in the summer all the time but that is defiinitely NOT the norm around here. Glad we have central air.

I'm in the pnw area and I'm right there with you. About 15 year ago we put in central a/c and it's some of the best money we ever spent.

We also have solar panels on our roof and they soak up so much electricity and send it back to the power company that we may end up getting paid for what we send them.

up here in the pnw, we are what I like to term us "weather weenies". One degree over 79 and we start crying and bawling.

By the way, I'm one too :-)

@GoneButNotForgotten  I hear ya!  We just don't get that type of heat here.  Thank goodness we installed central air a few years ago!

I start whining at 75 degrees.  It has hit 80 here at 5 pm.
