So I went out for my walk this morning and was again attacked ! But I don't want to cause any concern because I was prepared for those Cicadas this time! When they hit my arm and my right shoulder, this is what they got ! ![]()
Thanks @LdyBugz for the suit suggestion !

They're harmless. They don't even bite or sting. Just out looking for love. They don't have great eyesight or even great flying ability. I've actually been enjoying them a bit,

I have millions in my backyard. No exaggeration!
I had to hire someone to shovel (yes shovel!!) them up.
When he couldn't lift the yard bag any more, he said he was done.
It doesn't even look like any were shoveled up.
The sound is deafening.
The stink of the decay is nauseating.
We won't be able to use our backyard this summer.

We have only a few. I wondered why the squirrels look so busy and happy.....apparently they eat cicadas.

@Goodie2shoes - Living in a state where we don't get these, thank goodness! Do they literally come out of the ground? Do they just mate and then die? Oh this sounds so gross, epecially what's happening to the poster who said she had to have her backyard shovelled? Sounds like something out of a horror movie.

@JudyL Yes they come out of the ground. My backyard lawn is filled with holes and cicadas. I don't know if my lawn is ruined.
We have to keep windows closed due the smell & sound.
You are correct, I feel like it is a horror movie.
I've read they're here through June. It's 2 different broads.
I'm near Joliet IL
We've been here 39 years & my hubby is 69 -- never ever seen anything like this.

@Mary Bailey - I am truy sorry that you and your DH are going through. Sorry for anyone having to go through this. It sounds just so awful.
