Re: This TOTALLY Made My Day!

Since I do not know why this person was going so fast, emergency or reckless, I would choose not to become judge and jury.  Guess I wonder why some find such joy in others misfortunes.

Re: This TOTALLY Made My Day!

The beginning of our trip home from the Outer Banks is on a 4 lane road - 2 lanes in each direction with no divider. All of a sudden, this guy comes flying by in a souped up car, weaving in and out of traffic. Within seconds, an unmarked police car lights up and  hangs a u turn from the other lanes and takes off after him. A few minutes later, there he was on the side of the road getting a ticket. This was at 10:30 or 11 in the morning with moderately heavy traffic. His antics could have caused a serious accident if that officer hadn't nabbed him.

Some good comments here. Often I wonder where the police are in those circumstances.

Re: This TOTALLY Made My Day!

I learned a long time ago that while careless drivers are a hazard, I have no idea why somebody is speeding.

Perhaps to get home or hospital for an emergency.  Perhaps just plain ignorance.  While not an excuse, I don't know anyone else's story.

I'm just glad the driver harmed nobody and that the officer is ok, too.

LOL @ the holier than thou folks so proud of themselves that they never judge speeders. They only judge people for judging speeders, which is so much more virtuous. Talk about performative virtue signaling. That takes the cake!

Sometimes seeing people get what they deserve is very satisfying. Of course we can't know why anyone does anything. And I personally do try to give people excuses when I see them behaving in a silly but harmless way on the road. It makes me feel better and keeps my blood pressure even.

But if someone practically blows my doors off careering down the road or does something that seems aggressively dangerous, I'm not going to pretend I don't hope they get pulled over before they hurt someone.

When we've had people who go whizzing by on the highways, all I think of, is down the road we'll probably seem wrapped around a tree or something.  It's happened before.

@Anonymous032819

I love it when they get caught.   Last week I was in heavy traffic on a regular street, in the right lane, and right next to me a white sports car rammed into the back of a small truck in the middle lane.  It was a rather loud crash.

Well, I expected they would both move to the right to exchange information so I pulled up a bit to allow them the space in the right lane.  Suddenly, the white car made a very sharp right from the middle lane and sped off down the cross street as fast as he could get out of there.

The truck was unable to follow him, and I wondered if anyone caught the offender's license plate number and reported it.  I never expected the car to hit another car and speed off.  Hit and run.

@CrazyDaisy  Since I think speeding to an emergency IS reckless, I hope they get pulled over. If it's a true emergency, the police can then escort them or get the necessary help. Causing an accident because of an "emergency" accomplishes nothing.
