In honor of Black History Month...

{#emotions_dlg.thumbup1}This Queen was the first self-made female millionaire in America. From the cotton fields to the castle, Madame C.J. Walker's story is a powerful example of how to overcome obstacles and reclaim the throne...

“I am not ashamed of my past. I am not ashamed of my humble beginnings. I am a woman who came from the cotton fields of the South. From there I was promoted to the washtub. From there I was promoted to the cook kitchen. And from there I promoted myself into the business of manufacturing hair goods and preparations. I have built my own factory on my own ground. I got my start by giving myself a start.” -Madam C.J. Walker

It can be done. Where there is a will there is a way. Good for her and her strength and ingenuity.

Where did the people after her go wrong? If she could do it then, why can't they do it now with all the rights and opportunities?

Who are ""the people"" who went ""wrong""? Who are you referring to that ""can't do it now with all the rights and opportunities""?

Interestingly, The Guinness Book of Records named Walker as the first woman to become a millionaire by her own achievements. Race was never mentioned.
