Re: Thinking ahead to Christmas

I bought mine earlier this year so I plan to send them.  But I'm thinking seriously about this being my final year for sending cards.  Something I thought I'd never say.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

Re: Thinking ahead to Christmas

Last Christmas was crazy. We spent a week in Walt Disney World right before Christmas and Christmas Day. Then on the way home, we saw my husband's sister and her 4 children and their families.

My husband was away for 10 days before we left for our trip.

I sent out all my Christmas cards before our trip. But to be honest I don't remember who sent cards and who did not send cards. When we got home there were quite a few cards.

So this year I will send out cards to everyone I sent a card to last year. My friends and family are special to me. And I just would like to make sure that they know it.

Re: Thinking ahead to Christmas

@Trailrun23  Those photo cards are not my favorite. My DD sends one every year, and I keep begging her to just send a current photo inside of a nice card. But she says she doesn't have the time or the money. The photo cards from my husband's co-workers are completely lost on me. I don't know anyone in the photos! Those cards go on a pile on a side table in the dining room. The photo cards from relatives get hung up and saved.

Re: Thinking ahead to Christmas

My card list grows shorter every year, but as long as I can write and still have people to sends cards to, I will be sending Christmas cards.   It's just what I do and means a lot to me.

I have not allowed myself to buy any new Christmas cards for 2 years, in an effort to use up the 500+ cards I already have!   All are neatly organized in one drawer, and I already know which stack I will be using this year.

Re: Thinking ahead to Christmas

Bridesmaid, you wrote "I have always loved sending them and writing a note..and loved receiving them as well". It sounds as though you enjoy the card excahange and you may well feel the Christmas spirit closer to the date. I agree with other posters that it is likely far too soon to be thinking about Christmas (despite the never-ending Christmas in July/August). Smiley Wink

I still send cards but have greatly pared down my list. Last year, I only received a handful and admit I was disappointed. It is a "tradition", a way to connect with those you don't often see and is far more personal than sending an e-mail. But to each his own.

I always purchase a box or two the day after Christmas, in person or online when they are all on sale.

If you don't send any, you are NOT a Scrooge! Good luck.

Re: Thinking ahead to Christmas

I only mail a handful of cards every year. However, our church has a Christmas card exchange for those that want to participate so that's where most of my card giving goes.

Re: Thinking ahead to Christmas

I always send cards but truly the list has declined.

Last year we got a handful of cards and they were only from 2 close friends and my family.

This year I think will be just family as we have lost more friends this year☹️ hoping to just get thru the holidays.  (right now just trying to get the summer - lol).
