Was rearranging a closet yesterday and saw my big box of leftover Christmas cards. For the first time, I am thinking about not sending any this year except to my in-laws and siblings. I have always loved sending them and writing a note..and loved receiving them as well...but this year I am not very enthusiastic about taking the time and trouble of dealing with them. Does that make me a Scrooge? Are you sending any this year? I am already seeing some at Hobby Lobby and Michaels. Maybe I will limit it to ten.😬

Yes, I will send Christmas cards. I am trying to burn through  my present supply and  boxes of cards that were given to me.

We haven't sent Christmas cards in at least a decade.  Prefer either calling people or emailing.

My dilemma is what to do with all the cards, holiday and otherwise, that I get from charities.  Hate to throw them out but not sure what the options are.

Re: Thinking ahead to Christmas

I've never really enjoyed sending Christmas cards and now send only about 10 a year. I used to do it as a duty, not because I liked doing it.   I try to write a note with each one.  I do enjoy getting the photo cards but don't send that type. Maybe this year I will if I get a decent photo to use.   Some of the cards are sooo beautiful.

Maybe it is too soon to think about sending Christmas cards.  When it gets closer to that holiday, you will be more in the mood to do that.  Keep the leftover Christmas cards with your decorations so that it will remind you what you have when it comes time to decorate

the house.  Just a suggestion.

@Trailrun23  I love sending and receiving Christmas cards, but I'm out and have been looking for the perfect cards for a few months now. I usually rely on Punch Studio cards, but I think I've already sent most of their cards. Starting to panic. We always hang up the cards we receive in the archway between the dining room and living room. My mom did that when I was growing up, and I loved the tradition.

Re: Thinking ahead to Christmas

I send less and less every year.  I plan on just a handful this year.  Just to my sister, some in laws and a couple of good friends.  No, you're not a scrooge.  I just don't like doing it either.  I used to make my own, using those kits from Anna Griiffin on HSN.  Took me hours.  Then I mailed them, got most of them back for more postage.  Well, that was one and done.

@Trailrun23    No you are not a Scrooge.  Last year I only sent to immediate family and a few friends.  I only received a few myself.  Seems like the tradition of a pretty card and a handwritten note is gone.  It's sad.  So much is on line now.
I remember when I was a kid, we actually had 2 mail deliveries each day the week before Christmas because there were so many cards delivered.  It was fun waiting for the mailman and opening the cards with the family.  Happy memories.

Re: Thinking ahead to Christmas

Good idea. I also like hanging the cards we receive up our staircase so you see them as you walk through the foyer. I think I will limit myself to ten at the most. So many of our friends travel so much or are snowbirds it is hard to know where to send a card nowadays. I have some beautiful leftover cards but don't know who I sent them to last year....I prob wouldn't remeber if someone sent me the same card twice, but I am sure some of my receipients would, Embarrassing.  I will have to keep some on hand in case I get an unexpected one. Last year, almost every card was just a photo of kids or grandkids.
