Things to do while stuck at home

I had a great day yesterday.  And it was all safe from the virus. We're encouraged to go outdoors where it's safe (and not off limits during the pandemic) so that's what I did.

The weather was finally good enough to start my spring yard work.  I have 6 large trees in my back yard so it's always a multi-day project.  I loved every minute of it.

Later yesterday, my dog and I walked through a nearby large cemetery.  I was surprised there weren't many people there.

Last evening, my sister called and told me to look out the front window.  She was in her car at the far end of my driveway.  She has a compromised immune system and was going crazy having been at home the last 3 weeks so went for a short drive by herself.  She sat in her car and I sat on my deck and we talked by phone. I usually see her several times a week and this was the first time in 3+ weeks.

I placed my grocery order online for next week.  Stores are buried with online orders so there is a longer delay between ordering and picking up/delivery.  I'll go to drive up and get them on Friday...my exciting trip in the car. Smiley Happy

The other day, I was walking my dog.  I happened to see a woman with her head resting on the windowsill of her parked car on the other side of the street.  I watched and she never moved so I hollered "Are you ok?"  She lifted her head and laughed saying "I'm so bored I'm sitting in my car!"

Re: Things to do while stuck at home

Sounds like you had a great day!   But I'm not so sure about that lady sitting in her car.

I'm happy for our spring weather - finally!  I love working in the yard, so I've been busy outside the last 3 days.  Neighbors are walking and kids are riding their bikes.   Lots of folks are outdoors and still "distancing."   I'm a homebody anyway and can find a zillion things to do around the house.  If I run out of housework, there's crossword puzzles, old movies on TV, re-reading those mystery novels on the shelf, painting yard art ....  I don't think I'll ever get bored.

I tried to place a pick-up order with our Kroger, but they were booked up for the next week and not taking any new orders.  Eventually I'll probably need to go to a supermarket, but we're OK for now.

Enjoy your day!

Re: Things to do while stuck at home

It was beautiful here yesterday. DH and I went for a walk through the neighborhood. We saw a few other people but everyone maintained a safe distance. When we got home, I trimmed some of the bushes in our side yard. I've also been cleaning a room every other day (let's not get carried away), which gives me a certain level of satisfaction. I don't need to go grocery shopping this week, but will probably need more fresh items next week, which I'll get at BJ's during their senior hour.

Our Governor issued a mandatory stay-at-home order yesterday afternoon. There are plenty of things you can still do, as long as you maintain a safe distance from others. DH says they should call it a "stay off the beach" order. 😉

Thrilled for the sunshine in the central Midwest. Taking walks all week long. Toggling between gratitude and attitude. What is it Bon Jovi said? If we can't do what we want, do what we can? Sounds like we're all doing this.
